We here in Vegas seem to be having a hard time getting the dealer to sponsor a BRAG club. Jakes idea is to get enough of the Southern Nevada Buellers involved here on the board to show the dealer that we have a serious interest. The dealer does tell everyone that he is the "largest dealer of Buells in the country", and he does have a fair amount of them in the showroom. On to my question:
Are there any sort of "promotional materials" for BadWeb, and if not, would anyone have any objection to us coming up with something that we could hand out.
Thanks!
Nick

????? Vegas HD used to sponsor a stunt team 702Boyz which rode Buell XB9s. Of course now I find no trace of them. Now I can't even find a Buell on their website. What's up with that?

Vegas -- you may wish to check with some of the more active BRAG chapters in the country for some supporting data (just check the post counts in the Storm Fronts area -- also, get your dealer in touch with Peggy at BRAG, or ask her to contact him --

another thing you may wish to do is figure out what you mean by "sponsor." if your dealer thinks it's gonna be a lot of work, he may not wish to take on yet another chore -- if all you're looking for is a place to meet, he may be more agreeable

Vegas,
I have a MS Word template for a Bad Web business card.
I had them out to every Bueller I meet.

I just print them on my home printer and tear them apart. I always have a few in all of my jackets.

I'll shoot you an email when I get home.

Brad: that would be great. Please do!

Thanks for all the input guys. Jake, are you getting all this?

It was my understanding that we couldn't have a BRAG chapter unless the dealer "sponsored" or hosted it. They do it for HOG, and I think mainly they supply a meeting place and snacks, etc.

On the subject of HOG, I had the chance of reading one of the local newsletters, and there were pages filled with grumbling about the "dealer running the group", and people fussing over who did this and who did that. Personally, I hope we can manage to pull this off without all the hassle that they seem to be having in the HOG chapter. Actually reading their newsletter was a deciding factor in me not joining that.

Vegas,
The way I understand it they have to sponser us as they would for a HOG chapter. I have a few connections for places to meet and ways to get snacks. I will be calling Peggy at Brag to get the whole low down. If I can pull this off with out the dealership I would like too.

Does anybody have a email add for Peggy at Brag?
It would help me since I work days and its hard to call.

No sponsoring dealer = No local BRAG club.
Period.

peggy.utphall@harley-davidson.com

You can form your own "unofficial" club if the dealer isn't cooperating and BRAG members would still be able to participate individually in national BRAG events.

Mike.

Xb9r, thanks for the email add. and the info.

Looks like we will have to get the dealer to sponsor a club. I will email Peggy and see what happens.

You know, if this particular dealer won't sponsor us, we could try some others in town. Although they are all owned by the same guy, I am sure some management may be different to deal with. But, on the other hand, these guys at the main dealer may want the publicity too. Who knows?!

the grumbling aboiut dealers running the chapter is fairly common, as is grumbling about not enough dealer participation --

suggest you guys have a conversation about what it is you'd like to have from the dealer (place to meet, snacks, 50/50 auction support, tech access, extra discounts, what have you, just get it down on paper), and what it is you are willing to do for it (work dealer open houses, help with demo days, wash the shop truck ;-} ), and then approach the businessman/woman in a business-like manner, emphasizing what might be in it for them (as in increased sales of Buell bikes and P&A)

but hey, that's just me

any dealers wanna chime in here?

Guys,
Sorry I didn't get a chance to email the template last night.
Had a really bad day, we had to put our 8 1/2 year old golden retriever to sleep last night.
Don't mean to bum folks out, just a bad day for us..

I'll send the template and related info tonight.

Thanks for your patience.

Brad

Brad: No prob bro. Sorry to hear about the dog. I had to do that with my 12 year old Border Collie. I know that sucks!

And... Thanks to all you guys for some help and suggestions. I think we are on our way. Jake is waiting on some answers and paperwork from BRAG. I like the ideas of approaching it from a business standpoint. That's one thing the dealers understand: What's in it for them!
I am sure we'll keep you updated.

Would love to hear from any of the dealership people here and anyone else who actually did this from scratch!

I plan on going to the dealer in a business stand point. Right now I am trying to get all my duckes in a row so to speak. I plan sitting down with the person and showing them why they should sponser us. I look at like a job interview. You have to sell them the on the idea. My thoughts any suggestions is welcome.

Thanks to all for the info and suggestions. Will keep you all update.

Sell the fact that it will bring in bis. I live about 20-25 min from a hd/"Buell" dealer. Yet I am willing to drive 40 or more to get to the dealer that supports Buell and has a club (where I am a member).

After reading some other threads here on the board, there is yet another idea. It seems that many here just have "BadWeb" events. Maybe if all else fails, we could go that way. I am waiting to see Blake's response on using the BadWeb logo for patches. I would be willing to chip a few dollars towards the initial set up and design for that one.

If there were BWB patches, I would get one.

From what I can remember and its probably archived but the Badweb Patch thing was thrown around a couple years ago and GUESS WHAT????

No one could agree on a design. NO BIG SURPRISE THERE..

Personally I think the banner on the opening screen would make a great patch.

S'Jake,
Be sure to include something to the effect that you're group will be open to all the dealership's customers and that while focused on the Buell product line you will be very open to riders with other models participating in your events and rides. Don't get into trying to define the difference between a HOG and a BRAG ride, as that leads to misunderstandings and assumed insults or derision, instead simply state that your group enjoys riding and leave it at that. And if someone shows up at one of your rides on a hardtail flathead then welcome them and maybe offer to swap bikes for a few miles or corners if it seems kosher to do so. Inclusion, not exclusion, more facets to the stone instead of being a different stone altogether.

And if they don't go for it then inquire about starting a Buell/BRAG subchapter of the local HOG chapter/club/group.

Thanks for the ideas Mike! I also found out today that we may have an "inside" friend. It seems that they already have a salesman at another branch that has been working on this. It may not take much more than a combination of the ideas shared here along with a showing of numbers to edge them along.

Vegas,
You might be able to get the support at one of the other branches of their complex, like maybe the one on the old strip under the light show. You might or might not be able to get a roped off area in front of the store during meeting nights and just have the gathering out front. Could get fun if you get the light show people to include some bike graphics into their show more on meeting nights.

I thought it was interesting when I was out there the last time that the local Hell's Angels looked all spick&span clean, unless it was some photo shoot I wandered into the middle of. Their boots were shined and polished, their leather jackets clean, their sewed on patches/colors looked fresh, thought for a moment I wandered into an alternate universe.

Don't know where I'm going with that except maybe to say the local city council may permit a monthly BRAG bike show and allow your members to park on the walkway in front of the shop there under the light show. Could be a good draw to pull tourists into the store.

I think I'll back out of here now, everybody stay seated please until you hear my bike rumble off into the distance.........

Hey Mike... We actually did that during Bike Fest. They let the bikers park right out on Fremont under the canopy. Unfortunately, out of the thousands of bikes, there were only about three local Buellers that showed. Heck, I pulled right up in the middle of them and backed the XB right between two full dressers. I wasn't shy about it. Looking forward to that next year now that I gave her that "Harley Rumble".
That is an idea, especially since anything that we could do to draw attention/business is always a selling point.
