Has an article about Ciccotto's FX Buell race bike that I haven't had the chance to read and hadn't seen mentioned anywhere here yet for discussion. So I thought I would toss it out there for all and sundry

In summary, at the time of the article (the Road America race) they were running two engine specs:

1. 1160cc's (3.8 bore x 3.125 stroke), 120 HP, Revs to 8500 rpm

2. 1290cc's (3.8 bore x 3.471 stroke), 134 HP, Revs to 7500 rpm.

Trap speeds were within 3 mph of the Factory Hondas and just as fast if not faster than the HMC Ducati 749R.

...and it can be competative for about $20000 as opposed to the 40k-50k they had to spend on the tubers : b

Was looking at the Thunderbike after race results, 3 XB9's all listed as having from 95.1-104.6 measured horsepower, I am guessing this is at the rear wheel...

Thunderbike class bikes are detuned because the class is restricted in HP vs. weight.

Great article, an 8500 rpm Buell, now that would be sweet!

Finally saw the MidOhio FX, Running 5th/4th before something came apart. Looking good!

Anony, I thinks it great that these examples of thunderbikes are great examples of the power available from a 9, with reliability in mind. The fact they are detuned to meet the weight requirements is even more impresive to me.
