I finally got my S3 put together and licensed this week; thanks to Dave and the others here who helped me with answers to questions. This bike was an ebay purchase with a salvage title for very minor damage and it has worked out great for me. I even have a good idea of what caused the evident low-side that led to it being damaged in the first place- too much oil in the tank, dipstick blew out and dumped oil on rear tire. First time I rode it around the neighborhood I found this condition when I got off it. Oil level cold was up nearly to the top mark. I drained out ~1/4 quart (which looked like crap), rode it around long enough to determine that that fixed the problem, and promptly changed the oil. No further problems after the oil change (oil level ~1/2 way between marks when hot).

I'm scheduled to get the rear shock recall done at the local HD/Buell dealer next Thursday (no hassles at all so far) and I just need to do a little painting on the bodywork to have the bike perfect (or close enough for my taste).

So far, I LIKE it!

Hugh

Hugh,

Congratulations, we'll have to go riding sometime. You should take it up to Running the Ridge in September. Have you noticed a change at the local dealership? They seem a lot more friendly lately and have hooked me up a few times recently. Maybe it's because they are selling more Buells.

Glitch,

No doubt about that at all. I've only managed to put 20 miles on it so far. I'm sure it won't take many more to transfer from LIKE to LOVE.

Joel,

Thanks. I would definitely like to go to Running the Ridge if circumstances permit. Lowcountry has been very helpful in the 2 visits I've made since buying the bike (plus one visit by my 18 year old daughter to pick up parts I'd ordered). They didn't balk at all at taking care of the shock recall. I went in 2-1/2 weeks ago to order the parts to do the updated primary tensioner and asked about the recall then. They said "sure we'll take care of it" and ordered the parts". I went in this Wednesday to pick up an oil filter and ask if shock recall kit had come in. It had, and I'm scheduled to get it installed next Thursday, which I thought was very good. I've been very impressed with them so far.

Hugh
