What sort of help do you need? By EBay-ese, are you asking about the various parameters and sub-sections and questions ebay asks when placing an ad, or are you asking for the best way to word an ad?

Why not start off with an open auction for the S2 brochure here with open bidding for seven calender days and a set ending time based on posted time in the respective bid post time. Work out the bugs in the process here, then move on to the ebay-world for the rest of the stuff.

Let us know what you need specifically and one of us on the site here will do what we can most likely.

Mike, time is short, and i don't want to take the time right now to start an account on Ebay and learn the ropes. what i'm hoping for is that someone here who already has an Ebay acccount and who is really savvy with the process will volunteer to auction off my literature via their account. i can provide all the digital pix and descriptions of the literature, and will help in any other way i can, but my plate is pretty full right now without having to quickly learn to speak Ebay on top of it.

thanks for the suggestions. : )

Got it. I also don't have the home-time available to deal with ebayer questions and fund transfers.

So, basically, you're looking for someone with a current ebay account, a good feedback rating, someone who has a current paypal account set up to receive payments, and who is also active in the Buell world, and would be willing to run a few auctions for your items.

Probably the first question for them would be, will the items be shipped to them and then they send them out, or will you ship the items from your place once the volunteer has verified receipt of payment?

The only potential hassle I see is if the ebay volunteer seller is in a different location than you and if a buyer wants to pick the items up in person. But for items like what you have the shipping should be minimal and there won't likely be anyone wanting to pick the items up in person unless the winning bidder also gets a guided tour of your region.

Anyway, hopefully the added info will help to draw out a volunteer.

I can think of at least ten people who fit the necessary profile, but I'll let them raise their own hands. ; )

It is for a good cause. And if you can throw in one of the patches for any auctions that meet a pre-determined level that would probably add some more incentive to each auction. But logistically that would also add some complexity to the deals.

Food for thought.

ps, and having done this myself, and having seen others do it as well, this should be an open action where none of us hold back bidding if we see someone else's name we recognize also bidding. Bid healthy, bid often, regardless of who bid before you or of who you'll outbid.

i'll ship the items from here once payment is verified, and will cover the postage and handling as part of my contribution to Alex.

great suggestions Mike, much appreciated! i like the patch idea, and of course anyone who wants to pick up the stuff in person gets a free guided tour of Ferrisville. : )

your last point is well taken, and i agree - this money is going to a worthy charity in honor of some very cool people.

Few however do it as capably as our FIREMAN . . . capable of bringing the most overinflated ego back to a reasonable and bearable level with one swift pronouncement of truth.
