Ok music fans, I need your help. My band is now officially a band (woohoo!), and things are getting there... slowly. We have vaguely discussed the idea of adding a second guitarist, but I need some more ideas and inspiration for doing three piece arrangements before heading in that direction. Three piece bands that come to my mind: The Police Cream Nirvana The Stray Cats Green Day Meat Puppets ZZ Top Primus Ben Folds Five So tell me, what are some more great three piece bands? In particular I'm looking for bands that didn't add members when they played live, but any era, any style of music - rock, blues, jazz, hardcore, punk...anything. cheers, chili  | ||

Don't forget to look at some bands with 4 members, but a "singing only" frontman and one guitarist doing rhythm and leads. Motley Crue comes to mind. Love them or hate 'em-they put on a good show. Mick Mars (for a walking deadman looking geezer) is one busy hombre in concert. (Vince Neil DOES pick up an Ovation Acoustic in a couple songs,tho) | ||

Ok, don't shoot me, but I'll admit I've hardly heard any Rush, though I've read a bit about them here and there. Any recommended Rush albums? Same goes for Kings X and a couple of others on Rsh's list. A few I haven't heard of before - Triumph, Glass Harp, Blue Cheer, North Mississippi Allstars and Sublime. I'll do some research this weekend. I know what you mean about three piece plus singer - Led Zep comes to mind, plus Rollins Band, U2. | ||

Rush kicked some serious butt...but their production company always seemed to have the music muddied up...I always wondered how the albums would sound if properly produced and recorded. Chili...they are from another of the colonies...Canada!! and speaking of Canadian bands...the best ever...Guess Who. | ||

Chili, the album 2112 is an absolute must hear. Also their debut album Rush.Anything past around the mid-90's....meh...they got a little wierd/techno/poppy IMHO Check out some Pat Travers Live. A song called "boom boom out go the lights" will boil your brains. | ||

Spatten, own or watch Rush's R30? MINDBLOWING! I have not. I've seen 'em a few times, starting in the 80's. They are one of my all time favorite bands. I got my young kids into them so that they will get a better understanding of song structure, timing, and because they just plain rock. Best lyrics in rock 'n roll too. My 9 year old girl loves YYZ! | ||
