Never wanted a track bike, never cared. Its like training on a treadmill for a marathon. Sure you get in shape, sure your form is great,... but you just going nowhere but over the same patch of track.

Its a big wide world out there. And what Stoner or Rossi do around Daytona has exactly nothing to do with what I ride, where I ride, why I ride.
I dont want a race bike. And the AMA is on my short list of angst.
Its a nice day, Im gonna go ride, I hear the races are on, you should go grab a chair and watch.

Rainman, that may be true...Erik may be laughing his ass off now, but when he realizes that his little marketing scheme made some of his followers leave or even worst, potential buyers change their minds (I at least know of three that did), I doubt he'll have that laugh or grin on his face...economic times are bad and being too cocky may back fire....

Lonewolf, please name even one person on here that is selling/sold their bike because of this marketing campaign.

Let me get this straight- You know of three riders who were serious about purchasing Buells, but then saw the 2010 advertising where Buell claims it builds bikes for serious riders, and now they no longer want a Buell?

It's possible. People make decisions based on emotion all of the time and what spurs more emotion than motorcycles?

For me, I don't care about hype. I bought a Blast because it was cheap and I needed a bike. End of story.

I grew to love it and the engineering and the BadWeb and the other Buellers I met. When all this happened, I was p.o.'d at first because I felt the "family" kinship with the twins, the engineering, etc., was crushed ... har-har.

The fact that my style of riding -- everyday and everywhere, commuting, pleasure and a little touring -- isn't considered hard core enough by someone selling bikes isn't going to stop me from buying what best fits my needs and pokes my pleasure button.

That bike happens to be any number of Buells.

I read BOB and I'm sorry I wasted my time reading it! TOTAL disappointment! I've been ridding motorcycles for over 40 years now and I don't need anybody to tell me how to act when I'm on a motorcycle!

I can only come up with one word for Buell's new marketing program. "FAIL"

Fail--- I doubt it.

Sure has put a topic out front thats for sure.

I like it !

I for one also thought they could build a better single than the Blast.

Maybe they will.

Froggy, just saying that it is a possibility....

Spike, yes I do know some individuals at work that were considering (don't know if they were "seriously considering") to buy XBs since I always take mine to work and sing it's praises and got them excited and told them a few days before the news release that Buell was going to release their new lines. They went to the site and the crushing of the Blast sort of gave them mixed feelings and the BoB made it sound like we were a bunch of immature individuals, I can not say they were all set on buying Buells but they most definitely liked my XB and were considering it. Yesterday, I found out they are going ahead and purchasing bikes (not all from the same brand) but as I approached each of them, they did say that part of the reason they want to ride again (These are 40 something individuals that have rode bikes before and are return riders) was to belong to a motorcycling group and the fun that goes with it; however what they read on the BoB sort of gave them the impression we are not wanted out there and that we are not friendly toward other riders...I know they misunderstood it, plus the feedback I got is that they each did their research and decided Buell was not the bike for them for whatever reasons...I'm just saying that individually, they did raise the BoB and the image they had about it being only for knee dragging, racers etc.....The one guy will buy a Yamaha FZ1, the other one is getting a Suzuki SV650 and the other one, a BMW F800. I feel good even if they are not getting Buells because I was able to convince them to get back to motorcycling. I am 49 years of age and basically told them life does not stop at 30 or 40. After a year of seeing me ride to work and seeing the grin on my face when I get there or when I am getting ready to leave, they made the decision to ride again. At least one guy has ridden my Buell and was amazed at how good it handled. So I stand corrected here Spike and will say that it was not just the BoB that changed their minds, however, it could have contributed to their decision...just look at the difference of opinions we Buell riders had after we first read it....

One more thing. Just because I said I like it does`t mean I agree with ALL of it.

But it did accomplish something.

Sure did stir up a lot of emotions. And we are all talking Buell.

Now where is my rotax 450 Buell supermoto.

Buell ??????

Well, when all is said and done here, and whatever the outcome, this will definitely be a "Lessons Learned" on the agenda for Buell Motorcycle Company's next strategic marketing meeting!

Interesting perspective from a non-Bueller on ADVrider:

"The campaign is working.

I clicked the link to check out the destruction of the Blast and I'm not really that interested in Buells.

While on the site, I clicked a few links to check out their bikes, found myself more interested in the brand than before. Multiply that by thousands, might get some more brand recognition, sell some more bikes.

I must say that If I was in the market for a new bike I'd at least research Buells, now.

I think the Blast is so far removed from the other bikes in the lineup that the negative marketing about the brand is less of a factor than it would be if, say Honda, was crapping on on its RUNE."

If he's at all representative, I'd say the ad campaign is doing exactly what it was intended to do.
