For those of you who don't go to the 1125r forum's, here is a video of the last lap of Sunday's race... Still gets my heart racing when i see it.

My favorite part is the 4th-5th gear wheelie after the pass... Look at Hacking shake his head in disbelief.

You think he meant to do that wheelie?

Looked accidental to me. I thought he looked surprised too.

Freakin' awesome vid though!

Pretty cool not freaking with the contact.

Nicky Hayden a few years got bumped in GP and was asked about it and made a remark that it was nothing next to banging handlebars on the Mile.

That is one hell of a rider. I don't care what bike he is on, that is one hell of a rider!

Glad to see him on a Buell though!

Yeah, great move, once it was successful. On the slo-mo, you can see Danny lose the front, and regain traction once the bikes touch. Great stuff!

And for the 1125/600 crowd, time to take a chill pill. Those are the rules set up by the organizers; if they are not acceptable, find another sand box to play in. As I understand it, the idea is to have close racing. Looks like that is what is happening. YMMV, Dave

"And for the 1125/600 crowd, time to take a chill pill. Those are the rules set up by the organizers; if they are not acceptable, find another sand box to play in."

You mean like Honda did in leaving the AMA board?

In all seriousness, Buell should have a 600cc like the rest run in the class. Even if their 1125 runs the same horse power as the 600's, the PRECEPTION is that with 1125cc bike, they have an unfair advantage.

If racing leads to sales, it doesn't look good for a bike with twice as much displacement putting out the same hp as a bike with half the cc's. If I can get a Yamaha R6 cheaper than an 1125r, and know I can run just as fast as it, why would I buy the 1125r?

Just a thought.

Jesus H this kid can ride. that was a ballsy move to pass and a great recovery.

It would have to be an IL4 to be able to compete.

They physics simply don't work out otherwise (how's it working out for Triumph or Ducati?).

Why would we WANT a "different in every sense" company that we all love to produce a Japanese bike clone?

Triumph and Ducati are't competing in the 600 class. What's that tell you? If you don't have the bike for the class, don't run it. If I4 is the technology to win, why would you do something else?

Preception is everything. I understand the dyno and the weight rules, but to those who are looking to buy that only occasionaly watch AMA racing, Buell is taking it on the nose.

Go do a search on Buell and AMA, look at all the bad mouthing Buell is getting over this and now the AMA bending rules for the RR. Being different shouldn't reflect badly to potential buyers.....buyers who'd help the brand grow, thus helping you and I get the bikes we want.

Personally, I'd love to see Buell compete with a factory team in Superbike. Compete with Ducati and Suzuki on the same terms.

Yeah, engine horsepower is the same. It's the anti-gravity propulsion system that kicks in on the straights.

Triumph and Ducati have bikes that are allowed in the class, as well as Aprillia and BMW. Why isn't anyone bitching about the Aprillia, oh yeah, because they aren't WINNING... Rules are Rules. Perceptions are by folks that have no clue about about the dynamics involved in power to weight, having only 1 power stroke for every 2 of the 600s, etc. Just because someone perceives that cc's is all that matters, doesn't make it right. Lets also remember that there were, what, 4 other 1125's in the race that didn't finish 2,3,4,5? Its all rider. The AMA has created a great class here, that is fun as hell to watch.

so you are saying that a 600CC IL4 and a 600CC V-twin are equal?

Exactly, but that PRECEPTION is what's making its way around sportbike message boards.

Not at all...I am saying that an 1125cc competing with a 600cc doesn't look good.

Actually, it's probably closer to a 600cc four and a 900cc twin. Look at the 848's power.

The standard WSBK used to be 750cc fours and 1000cc twins. The twins dominated many years under this formula.

To who? A bunch of key board pounding trolls? Who cares, the rules of AMA and physics are clear. We have no more of an advantage as they do...

Sorry, I'm not a tech, but my PERCEPTION is that there's more to a bike than the number of ccs.

Otherwise, why would there be so many other rules? THAT would be the only thing that mattered, and the rule book would be one paragraph long.

I generally prefer simplicity. But I think that sort of a simplistic outlook on this class is, well, too simple.

I'm going to channel Court again...

It's time to stop caring what 23 year olds riding superbikes (badly) care...

The world needs another inline four 600 like I need another knee surgery. If you must have one, just go buy a ZX-6 and slap a Buell sticker on it. The Japanese inline fours are already so similar they might as well have rolled out of the same factory.

I'm disappointed I'm not seeing a Triumph triple up front in Daytona Sportbike. It oughta be competitive.

man i really wish people could get over the displacement argument with that racing series. There is obviously not that big of an advantage seeing as how "slick" is the only buell getting on the podium and it is making for very good racing like this race. This series was designed to make a bunch of different bikes competitive against each other. the 1125s in this series are bone stock engine wise, those 600s are not. Also the 600s are lighter than the 1125.

I think it is a neat series, much more fascinating to watch then the mat malaiden show.
