Hey Guys,

Just thought I would post up a great opportunity to take the California Superbike School at Laguna Seca on Oct. 14th. Considering a track day there is $300, the $450 (bring your own bike) price tag on the CSS seem like a great deal. To put it in further perspective, they charge $390 to do the same program at Streets of Willow. It's a no brainer if you are looking to do something like this.

They announced the new date last week and it's already over half booked.

It would be great to have some fellow Badwebbers out there.

Be advised that at Laguna Seca, there are significant noise restrictions. ANY exhaust modifications will not likely pass the sound detection.

Problem is that you only get 2 laps to test sound and if you get black-flagged for noise and don't pull off, the fine is $1000 PER LAP.

You don't get a refund if you don't pass sound so you might want to keep the exhausts stock if you EVER want to run Laguna Seca!!!

Some stock exhausts won't even pass depending on where they put the detectors (they never announce where they'll be)

Laguna Seca only gets 7 days a year with exemptions to noise restrictions.

Just make sure to ASK Code if HE offers a refund if you don't pass noise. I know the track will not refund any fees.

That being said, Code runs one of the best performance riding sessions in the country.

Slaugher: ABSOLUTELY! I've only taken his classes and Pridmore's and Code's is hands-down more informative. I need to try some others, but I'm limited by geography. I WANT to take the classes on MY bike, not a school bike.

To clarify: When I say "Pridmore," I mean Reg (C.L.A.S.S.), NOT Jason (S.T.A.R.).

Sunny took Pridmore's CLASS. Loved it except the time of year - she froze her BUTT off so ended up struggling just to stay warm. It was a good class for her but was limited in terms of "performance" riding it seemed. (She wasn't really intersted in "going fast" - she was a new rider back then; just wanted to get some skills)

I know a couple instructors for Code who raced here at Willow: Stuart Smith and Wil Eikenberry. They're all incredibly skilled instructors and very attuned to individual variations in skills and abilities. Stu just set a lightweight twins lap record at Willow on the 650 twin Ninja.

A chance to gain an appreciation for what manufacturer face . . .

: )

About 10 laps at that price and you'd want to reevaluate how bad you wanted that "performance" (most are just noisy) exhaust.

I was thinking about it but it would take forever getting there from LA sticking to the 55 mph limit CA has with cars towing trailers. Anybody from LA going up with a truck that wants to split gas?

+1 on the strict noise restrictions. I did a track day there last November and guys left and right were getting black flagged for noise. I saw some guys loading their bike to go home after the first session.

CSS will not offer a refund if your bike cannot meet the noise regulations.

When the Interactive valve is open on the XB12 it is one of the louder stock systems I have heard. This make me curious if it would pass?

It must have passed since Buell did their press introductions there for the 2008 models.

I didn't have a problem when I was at there during the inside pass day with a stock exhaust. It was raining but I still had it wide open on the straights. I remember it sounding kind of nice, I don't know if it was the rain, various walls, or temp but it did sound louder to me. I thought they only measured at that booth going up the hill to turn 7.

NOt sure about the hidden microphones, but during my one experience at Laguna it was only monitored at the booth.

I know the instructors at Track Experience were saying the location was moved daily so nobody could short-shift at a known location (as it used to be done)

Dunno but so many of their customers got black-flagged (and bitched) that they just don't go there any longer since so many people have exhaust modifications.
