This afternoon I was in the cage coming home from a parts trip to the local Buell shop when I had to stop for gas. I was at the pump and this guy on an old-as-hell looking cop bike, wearing a uniform, came ripping into the gas station parking lot. I mean really moving. Suspension bobbing, really pushing the bike. I got my gas, hit the road, and as I was on the entrance ramp to I-75 southbound in Marietta (huge Atlanta highway, like 8 lanes) he came ripping past me. I didn't even know he was there. I watched as he dove into traffic, carving all the way to the left lane in one aggressive sweep, splitting cars by about 2 feet. It was the craziest bit of traffic riding I've ever seen, and I've seen some crazy sportbike riders around ATL.

I think it was an old KZ1000 Kawasaki like this one:

I guess he was an ATL Police officer. Either a crazy good rider or just a crazy MOFO. Both, I guess.

Acav, I'm around Marietta all the time. Definitely some nutjob riders out there. They seem to think I-75 is a racetrack.

Weird about the officer though. That's a new one...

Motor jocks are some of the craziest riders out there!

I deal with them all the time at work. Bunch of real nice guys and shit can they ride.

They go through so much training and it's hard as hell to even make it all the way through there training.

Seriously they replace there floorboards more often then there brake pads!

And what ever you do, don't tell em you can ride circles around them on your Buell!
I did once, then the 50+ year old jockey showed my how it was done! Draggin floorboards on a hard turn left for about 6 perfect circles! All within a 7 or so foot radius!
Blew my mind!!!!

For what it is worth, in the last week of the Academy we all met with the Lt. Just a sit down to shoot the shit with you. Most knew I kinda liked the idea of becoming a bikeman. My Lt. (of the Academy) was on the Tac. Team and tried out for bikeman. He was not able to make bikeman. He told me that the training on the bikes was MUCH harder then what it took for him to be on Tac.
I am still hoping to do it later in my career. I found out that my Dept.has a commercial vehicle inforcement division. There is only 1 officer on it. I drove rig for a year before working for my Dept and hpt that that might be a foot in the door.

My hat is always off to a motor cop. They are bad. In Indianapolis they used to have a reputation (true or not, I don't know) that they would write a ticket to their own. I think it was just talk, but it added to the image they projected. Thought never entered my mind to sass one of them.
