I get home and the girlfriend wants to take her bike out for the first time this year (she has some joint issues, so all the planets have to align for her not to be in pain AND the weather to be good to warrant going out on the bike).

Problem is, the battery drained dead over the winter and I hadn't had a chance to get it up and running yet. So, after fidgeting with the crappy jumper cables, I get the thing jump started and it's running pretty good. After a few minutes, I cut the choke and the thing ended up dying. No biggy. By this point I was outside near a hill, so I was able to pop start it easy. It doesn't hurt that she rides a 250 Ninja which feels easier to push around than my Huffy.

Anyways, I shut it down and we get read to go out. I pop start it again and we're on our way. Stop by the convience store to check tire pressures and fill them up some, then head out for a nice ride. A few miles down the road, I start thining about how it's been a while sice we put gas in the thing, so we should stop at the next station, especially since she's very new to the bike and won't be able to flip the petcock while in motion. A minute later, she pulls into a parking lot a bit suddenly without the engine the running. Tells me it just started to sputter and quit.

Great. Of course, the battery still wasn't up to full charge, and now the carb is bone dry, so it didn't have enough juice to get itself going again. Pop started it again.

Kept on our way, filled it with gas (and by this time was able to start itself again).

On the way home, he hit a police detour, which wasn't well marked and had us having to make a left hand turn while on a steep hill just past a set of railroad tracks. The car in front of us stopped short, and when it was time to go she had a hard time getting going on the hill and dropped it. I saw her laughing her ass off, so I figured it safe to pull off the road before tending to her. Got the bike lifted up (with the full tank of gas leaking out the filler). Practically no damage. Some scratches on the mirror and bar end, and that's it. I thought for sure some body work would have been messed up, but nadda.

We finally get home and pack the bikes up.

God, what an eventful evening for that poor little Ninja. At least she was good spirited about it all.

And she looks great riding it. Almost no bad habbits!
