Depends on what scale and margin you want to do it at. Sideline hobby level I'd say why not, give it a go and see where it takes you. Just keep your perspective and don't get in over your head. You can always expand the sideline business by setting up a table at local craft fairs and see how your work does with the general populace.

Beyond that, since you have a talent for this stuff, I'd suggest heading down to your local Small Business Bureau and see what sort of guidance and training they have for setting up a business and gaugeing(sp?) the market potential.

Glitch,

If you plan to run this like a real business, you know, pay taxes on the profit, your profit marging has to be pretty big to really come out ahead. Just a ball park figure, of course dependent on a lot of issues, you can expect to only be able to keep about 50% of the actual profit over the cost of the items. The real key here is deciding if your time is worth the money. If you have never had your own retail sales business before, I would definately talk with your small business bureau and some other similar small businees owners so that you really know what to expect before investing the cash. As always just my opinion, so take it however you see fit.

I have a check for $8.00 sitting here for you. As soon as I get off my ass and put a stamp on it it'll be headed your way.

That's what I'm asking for, opinions, suggestions, and the like. One thing I love about this board, is when I ask a question, or have an idea, or whatever, I seem to get what I'm looking for, not to mention finding things I didn't know I was looking for, but was nice to know. Food for thought, kinda thing.
I have an idea for doing this.
I'm not trying to make a big profit or a living.
I'd just like to have some of my ideas go further than myself.
That's why I inquired about the sponsorship here. I want to be able to offer things here without being spanked for "free advertising" on the BadWeb. I value my reputation here.
The patches were a different deal all together as they were born and raised here, and were not for profit, but just something everyone seemed to enjoy. This endevor would be for profit, but only enough to cover some costs and PITA tax (pain in the ass tax), something that wasn't figured into the patches, I did those because I wanted to and because Greg was there to back me up.
