Its all about The Show! But jest what is the show? How do you define it? Discuse. RACING: When I was a young jester growing up in South Fla. The big Show would come to town every summer. Every year dad would drag me out to the Miami marine stadium to see the unlimeted hydroplanes race. This was big time racing, rich men spending ungodly sums of money to go as fast as the could. I was there to witness the change from the true piston powered thunder boats to the whine of the turbines. It was sad to see the piston powered boats die out, you could jest feel their power in your inner being, loud. I'm glad the power boat rules were not altered to even it up. I would have been robed of the show, the spectile. I would have been robed of watching rich men spend big money in the ever ending quest for more speed. You knew who the top($$$) boats were. Thats the Show, seeing the best boats money could buy, hireing the best piolets, an having at it on a sunny summer afternoon. Thats racing. Competition: When the big Show came to town, to fill in the hole/gaps when the million dolar boats were on the bench the priveteres would take to the water. Small dolar teams with limited bubgets running lesser equiptment. They put on a good Show/Compition wise too but thats not why we were in the stands that day. If I'm to spend my money or show much intrest on motor sports entertainment. I want to see the best of the best money can buy, going realy realy fast. Thats racing. Buget racing in the name of fair even competition robs me of the Big show. |

I don't know some of the best racing I've ever is SCCA club racing. Good old "Run what ya Brung" style low budget stuff. BUT you'd thing some of these guys thought they were heading in to the last turn of Daytona! I like the Thunderboats to but like you said something died were the the old Miss Madison retired and they brought a turbine boat in her place. |

Any class of racing that I can actually race in myself is better than any class of racing that I can only watch. |

From my other post, but appropriate here. By the way, race attendance is up.: Posted on Sunday, April 05, 2009 - 12:14 pm: -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Bnb, it's about making the bikes equal with a formula, not about cc's. If it were about cc's then every company would have to build a bike with an engine that exactly fit the class rules. That's not going to happen. So how do you get other brands in? Set rules so they are equal. At Road Atlanta the SportBike race just had 6 brands in the top 6 places, and all within 2 seconds; it doesn't get any better racing than that. And that is what we are talking about, racing, not spec sheet braggadocio. Now privateers with limited budgets can compete fairly with factory bikes. The class is awesome, dude. The retarded Superbike class where the Japanese fought back the most against rule controls, and so are allowed to run exotic electronics, etc. has first place 23 seconds ahead of second. No racing happening there. |

When does SHOW = RACING? When six different brands fill the top six slots and are within two seconds of each other at the end of the race! Of course we could always just sit and watch Mladin on the track by himself. He is the fastest thing out there. |

Thats the show! Seeing the baddest rider on the baddest bike($$$$) kick everyones azz! Thats Racing? Go Faster. I was there this weekend. Watching Maldin was boring. Could have been the same race I've watched for the previous 2 sessions. Now watching all the lead changes and close action in the Sportbike class. That was a racing! |

watching the big guys race is fun, but going to the local dragstrip, dirt track, or motocross track and watch some local guys race like its their last race is where its at. especially when those locals beat the local rich guys with their moneyed up machines. |

See the whiney prima donna on the illegal cheating bike beat younger less experienced guys, many on near stock bikes. Yeah that's a real show. Kinda like putting Golden Gloves boxers in with a pro. Note that when his bike was going to be sold it only won by 4 seconds over guys he beat by 30 seconds yesterday. What a BS bunch of cheaters, just like they were caught last year. And with a pro who doesn't have the balls to go race at the world level. Mladin isn't really fast, he's a bully. The really fast guys are overseas, like Spies, not hanging around acting tough in the small town. |

Given the choice to watch Formula 1, Indy cars, or Stock cars, You could find me at Whiteland in a go-kart. I'd rather participate than watch. |
