OQO has made a newer model called the 2+ !!! its faster, smarter, lighter, all around better then the model 02.... not only to add all its goodies IT'S CHEAPER TOO!!! see for yourself: try to match the specs from the model 02 with the model 2+.. and the 2+ comes out to be much much cheaper.... very nice My only concern is the display.. its a OLED, eg OrganicLightEmittingDiode display.. they have a fantastic picture with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and clearly the future of monitor technology.... but I've heard that they are not meant for the long run, meaning they dont last Anyways, Im excited myself cuz I always wanted one and was waiting for them to drop in price.. Not only is it cheaper, the price drop comes with the upgrade!!! SHIBEE |

Dbird, depends on many things man. How big of a screen do you want. Do you want a SSD with limited capacity, but no moving parts, or do you want a standard HDD? I would go with an SSD on a bike, myself, thats what I got. watch www.slickdeals.net in their Hot Deals forum, and you can find some awesome deals on them, and tons of other shit. |

the 2+ also comes standard with touchscreen which was a really expensive option on the model 02 that now comes standard I would like to have a computer than can fit im my pocket.. hell buy a bullet camera of some sort and plug it into the computer for some riding videos application.. memos, browsing the internet any where any time.. used as your portable MP3 player.. use it for school work, recording notes typing durring class.. your personal powercommander.. there are a million possibilities Either way: its slick, its sweet, its ultra portable (Message edited by ochoa0042 on February 23, 2009) |

I have played with the first OQO, I was not a big fan. It was too small to be actually useful. Sony had their version for a while, and it was a little bigger, but much more useful, except it was EXCEEDINGLY expensive (~$3k). Most of the netbooks are of minimal use. If you really want a small lightweight machine, with the power similar to a modern netbook, then look no further than a used Samsung Q10. It was sold in the US as a Gateway 200STM, and a Dell 200. They are about 3/4 inch thick, and weigh a little over 2lbs. There is an optional docking station that attaches to the bottom and holds 2 drives (CD/DVD + Floppy, or CD + 2nd battery, etc...). For the video fans out there, it was one of the few sub-notebooks that has onboard firewire. The one I have has a Intel ULV-M 1ghz processor. Since it is a real notebook, it is still faster than most netbooks. I see them on a regular basis basically being given away on ebay. If you have basic computer skills, there is a Gateway version on ebay right now with a failing HD. They want $45... Pop in a new drive and you have a perfect worry free mobile device. |

I picked up one of these last year: Runs full XP. Has 1GB RAM and a 32GB SSD disk. Touch screen, built in webcam, wifi, and has touch pad. Haven't really used it much. Figured it would be good for data logging, if I ever get around to it. |
