Hey guys,
I bought a set of black wheels off an 08 model.

I heard a while back that all Buell wheels, 03 to current are silver with a polished lip under the powder coating.... ( like the original 03 wheels)
Can anyone confirm this?

I'd like to get the polished lip on the black wheels to show up.

Thanks!!!
-Robert

I thought that you could polish the lip on any of the XB wheels.

I don't think that it comes polished and painted, but what do I know.

i think it's just the casting of the rim. the lip is smooth, but the inner part and spokes are casted rough.

once you strip the powder. you should be able to polish up the lip easy.

Any Idea how to strip the powder off just the lip?

I think that's going to be a problem. You'll end up with a ratty edge on the paint/clearcoat.

I'd suggest that if you are planning to polish the lip, go ahead and have the wheels powercoated.

You'll end up with a better edge and the powder coat will be more durable.

I was hoping to be able to polish the lip on an already powder coated black wheel......

I'll have to talk it over with my powder coater.

Thanks guys

If you got to repowder coat, talk to grandstand designs. Another badwebber had his wheels done in black and with a polished lip, it looks great.
