I've been known to ride hundreds of miles to get a good burger.
The Vanilla Bean Cafe in Pomfret, CT makes a really good burger.
My favorite destination ride for a burger is the Hitchin' Post Cafe in New Lebanon, NY.
Cabots of Newton (MA) makes a really good one, as well.
One of the most memorable burgers I had on the road was from a little place in Russell, KS called (I think) Meridy's restaurant. I would recommend this place without reservation, based on that one burger.
I don't know if they're still there, but the Red Top Drive In in Colorado Springs made an incredible burger back in the mid '70s.
The Heart Attack Grill sounds a little too glitzy; but if they even make a moderately decent burger, the scenery would make up for the shortcomings.

Even a camel burger w/pommes in Goulamine gets 5 stars if you are famished. Any farther south and the Tuareg have you for lunch.

Be glad Buell doesn't make an airplane. All the burgers cost $100 & up in avgas.

That's the nice thing about NYC . . . you can still get a good burger for $41.

One of the best burgers I've had came from a place that is known more for their cheesecake than anything else.

Next time you're in Brooklyn, try a burger at Junior's!

Maybe Court has been here..... maybe not. But Crusty if you and the Mrs. are coming to Homecoming this year. I would love to introduce you to the best Burger in Wisconsin hands down. Matter fact it would be great to get a group to go and afterward get a Awesome Custards right across the street.

>>One of the best burgers I've had came from<<

Haast Pass on the rugged West Coast of NZ's South island. At the pub. Huge and outstanding.

Junior's!

I just ordered one of their cheese cakes. Absolutely fantastic.

Story: A few years ago I was in the mood for tasty cheese cake. So a few of us flew to NY for desert. I have had Lindy's cheesecake (at least the recipe) all over the place, but never in their actual store.
I was so disappointed. The cheesecake was very average, almost like something you would have at a low end chain restaurant (denny's/sharis)

Two years ago, Dana hooked me up with some of the best cheese enchiladas I'd tasted in years. If he's recommending a place for burgers, you can bet I'll be there for lunch.

Supposedly the best burger in New York is available only at lunch time at Peter Luger's.

Saw a news clip on the moronoscope about posh NY restaurants putting burgers on the menu in the current economy. They aren't selling a lot of spendy beef entres, so 21-day beef vendors are grinding up steak cuts. Some offered as low as $12.95 to the lunch crowd. Might be worth a trip to the Big Apple just to scarf the best filets, though ground and between two buns, at a fraction of normal price. Thank you Mr. Madoff. And if you want to speak to a Wall Street broker, just say, "Waiter!"

well i must say the place draws a variety of people on sunday. met rex there for a bite, he took a few pics, and said he would post 'em. unfortunately was unable to get a girl on bike pic as there were only 2 "nurses" on "duty".

will have to try it again on a different day to see if the "staff" changes. food was decent, was only able to manage a bypass, and a couple of trips to the fry bar, and i was full. not bad though.

Hey, I managed a full pound "Serious Cheeburger" at the local "Cheeburger Cheeburger." Even got my photo up on the wall!

I'll never be able to eat the 15 pounder at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, so I'll take what I can get!

I agree that Peter Luger's is overrated. But then I moved to NYC from Kansas so I was accustomed to always having 3 or 4 of the bet steakhouses in the USA within 50 miles.

I'm a burger aficionado.

Current favorites are

Piper's Kilt in Eastchester.

The Firehouse in Buchanan (from last Wednesday)

Duffy's (about a block from my house and likely one of the areas best)

I've got a list of 6 burger joints I'm going to start riding to the moment the weather breaks. I did a shake down ride on some new stuff on the bike a couple days ago and I am ready to rock n' roll.

A pounder, Jaimec?

My buddy Damian managed to eat the TurtleZilla, a 24 ounce cheeseburger at The Naked Turtle in Plattsburg, NY. You get one hour to eat it and the side of fries...if you make it, you get a free tshirt and your picture on the wall of shame. I've got pictures around here somewhere...he managed it with five minutes left. He didn't eat until dinner the next day.

You gotta start SOMEWHERE! By the way, the Cheeburger "Pounder" is actually 20 oz pre-cooked, so it actually weighs a bit more than a pound cooked.

Had mine with pepper jack cheese, chipotle sauce, pickles, onions, lettuce and tomato. No fries.

My next goal is a "4x4" at the American Burger Company. That's 4 quarter pound patties separated by four slices of cheese. If I finish it, I get to write my name on their wall...

I've got the bike about ready and the first day weather allows my butt is "burger bound".

We used to have Red Robins on Long Island, but they all closed up shop and went away years ago.

We have a "Fat Burger" in Massapequa. And, as Greenlantern will attest, there's All American Burgers also in Massapequa. Chosen on a Netscape survey some years back as the best burgers in the country!

By the way, Red Rooster (like All American) is outdoor seating only. Might want to wait for the weather to warm up a BIT more before going by motorcycle...

All American was Closed for 2 weeks following Christmas. I put my 5 year old in the car the first Saturday they were back and took a drive to cure the withdrawal I was suffering. DAMN line was out the door and into the parking lot and i only had a half hour before the kid had to be at Bowling league. Answering "Daddy, why are you punching the car and yelling?" is not as easy to answer as you might think!

There are two local burger stands here
Cubbies ( see the tail section about the cheese burger run )

Pt's

Both are good Cubbies are better,
Pt's serves beer, and has outside dinning

One other BigD's garage the burger is nearly as good as Cubbies but the sandwhich is much bigger.
This is a "biker hangout" type place =)
(Its a theme joint ) and on a busy Thursday night there may be 100 HD's parked out side live music, and cold beer.

Buellers are welcomed =)
