I have 6k miles right now and am trying to find a root cause to some occasional hesitation at speed. Idle is perfectly smooth however. I did go to Texarkana and visited 'questionable' gas stations once or twice.

Is that all it takes??

Doesn't take much, The first thing I would do is clean or replace your spark plugs. I am sure that you have already put premium gas in your bike and ran a few high speed passes. I don't know if that does any good, but sure feels good.

stupid question, how old is your air filter? I had a bit of trouble a few times that was cleared up by replacing teh air filter. just a thought.

That's all it took for my old Subaru. Then it took the dealer two tries to (not) fix it because they apparently didn't remember that there were two filters (actually a filter and a fuel separator). So, to answer your question, if one bad tank can have a pretty serious lasting effect on a relatively crude automotive system, there is no reason it couldn't do worse for a motorcycle.

I got one bad tank of gas in North Carolina that affected my bike until I was able to totally drained the gas tank. There must have been a half pint of water in my tank.

I try and avoid run down, trashy gas stations now.
