Due to vehicle and family issues I can't make it to Georgia for Buelltoberfest I'm looking for info on the best roads / area within a 4 hour drive of DC. Help? Suggestions? Good campground info would be appreciated as well. Thanks! |

DC is pretty close to Shenandoah I think, right? Must be some nice roads once 66 ends. I know we've done skyline drive a few times, but that's more scenic than twisty. There's lots of camping in the national park area too. Or you could come to scenic New Jersey! I mean, who WOULDN'T want to see the famous NJ Turnpike? Kidding aside, there are some nice roads in Western NJ, but it's probably just a tad outside your 4 hour timeframe. ->ChelleM |

I went to a BRAG event in LaVale, MD a few years ago. Fantastic riding and only about 2 hours out of DC. Its up near that really skinny part of MD. |

I'm a little partial to my "playground" here in central PA, near Altoona. I'm hosting a ride the Saturday after Labor Day, Sept 6. You might want to check in with guys from the DC/MD/VA Storm Front, I think Rasmonis and maybe a few others are coming up. I've hosted the Res Ride the past 2 Memorial Day weekends with an average of 20-25 riders in attendance. As far as camping, Prince Galitzen State park has typical state park style spots prince gallitzin link, there is a local campground in Altoona (I'll have to get a name for you) and then there is Lake Raystown Resort http://www.raystownresort.com to the south-about 45 mintues away from me. If you need any other info, drop me a line, I'd be glad to help. |
