Ok, I'm a contact wearer and I find my eyes dry out after riding all day. I wear a full face helmet, but it doesn't do much for the wind under it. Was wondering what kind of goggles others use while riding? Want to keep the wind off my eyes so I don't have them dried out by the end of the day making it hard to see. |

I suggest photo sensitive sunglasses. That way when you get caught out late, you don't get caught with a mirrored shield or too dark glasses. That can be bad. |

I suggest photo sensitive sunglasses You will want to nix that idea. Most (if not all) full face shields are UV filtered. Photocromatic lenses need UV to change. I have been searching for a non UV filtered shield for years. Transitions make a new type of driving lens that is supposed to change without UV, but they are not able to become 100% transparent. Unless you have to use contacts, I would suggest keeping a pair of bike specific glasses handy. A lot easier than applying eye drops every hour. |

I use Wiley X glasses. They are a bit pricey but well worth the money. the lenses are removable so there's no need for a nighttime/daytime pair. My dark lenses are the polarized ones. http://www.wileyx.com/EcommSuite/ProductDetail.asp x?ActivityCode=MOTORCYCLE&SeriesCode=163&ProductLi ne=286,XL1&ItemCode=291 I've had mine for a few years now and am very happy I bought them. I've had them on with a $5 brain bucket on doing ~100 and NO TEARS. I have since thrown away the brain bucket though. (Message edited by damnut on March 31, 2008) |

Thanks. I might have to go check those out. Do they fit well under a full face? |

Darn, Monkey, I'd forgotten Lexan was UV resistant. Thanks. I've had my Transition's go nearly clear behind my Iridium shield, and been blinded when popping the helm, but not so much with clear shields. The dark shield at night mistake ( don't ask ) can be really dangerous. The Suomy Blue Iridium shield is really freaking dark. Combine that with a yellow headlamp, and it's not safe to do highway speed at all. Clear shield with sunglasses is the best compromise for a contact wearer. Good choice. Neck air dams work well too. Fogging is weather, helmet & breathing. You'd swear I was a pervert by how fast some lids fog on me...... never mind. |

I don't were contacts, but I used to get hay fever really bad in my eyes, and did wear a Snell rated moto-x helmet with moto-x goggles with out a visor for many years of street riding. It was the first solution that worked for me; It helped to keep the road dust, wind, and pollen out of my eyes. I have since become acclimatized with many seasons of riding, and do not use the goggles any more. However, I do use wrap around Maui Jim "Ono" sunglasses which fit snug to my eye sockets. I currently use an Arai XD helmet which will accept moto-x goggles under the visor. This combo would be my best recommendation. Hex ps. I always carry Opticon-A eye drops on long trips. Maybe a moisturizing eye drop would help in your case. |
