HD Buell wants $500for a new set of tires (tires and labor) For Metzler M1s my local shop wants $400 (tires and labor) I friend gave me a set of Maxxis SuperMaxx as long as I paid their $40 mount and balance fee (wheels off the bike). So, although I didn't like Cheng Shin, he said he tried them out at Road Atlanta when Maxxis was there showing off the tire, and he said they were good tires. Since I trust him, and I can't beat the price, I'll give 'em a try. Put them on Saturday, so of course it rained. Sunday went for a short ride in the North Gwinette twisties, (ok not so much twisties as curves and turns through urban sprall) so far so good. We are going for a ride this weekend to do the Suches T.W.O.-Morganton-Helen-North GA-ride where we end up ride. So I'll let ya'll know how they hold up. So far they seem to be doing well. I was told however to keep in mind that the tires are street tires...

Yes I know, the new local shop is me. I'm looking for a tire balancer now. As for the tires...I just got home from work and wuddyano...it rained. Much better in the rain than the 207s. About the same feel as the M1s. I can wheelie in the rain with these tires. |

Balancers aren't all that hard to make, I'll see if I can throw together something by the weekend and post it. |

I replaced the oem tires with Bridgestone BT-020s. 3500 hard miles on the rear and it is only just now starting to show center wear. No issues with stickiness yet. $200 for the pair mail order. Let us know how the Maxxis' hold up. I love choices. |

Dudes, I've thrashed the Maxxis Supermaxxes already. Lasted 7,000 miles, and the rear had to be replaced, the front still has plenty left, might even outlast the 2nd rear if I keep practicing wheelies. The stock Dunlops on my 9R lasted only 3K 'til they were worn edge to edge, so that should let you know my riding style. Very happy with the supermaxxes. Sherm |

John & Sherm: Thank you very much for the input. I just love the BadWeB! John: It even looks like something I may be able to build myself! |
