Could need a TPS reset. Or could be a vaccuum leak. Found one on my XB9R with can of carb cleaner. Spray it around intake parts. You should see a change in rpm when it is sprayed on a leak. (Message edited by barker on July 09, 2007) |

Is that normal for a TPS reset??? This one appears to be doing it even at idle... I can blirp the throttle and it will hold for about ONE SECOND then ease back down to NORMAL idling RPM..... I have the air box off now... and the CARB IS DIRTY !!!!.. Gonna try and clean that first and see..... Matt. |

Carb? is this a M2? I cant tell from your profile. If you have a Carb a TPS reset aint going to help. Some badwebers have a special software/PC that can do a TPS reset on fuell injected buells Where are you located? Still could be a vacuum leak. |

I did not mean... carb.... Throttle Body.. AIR BOX SIDE. (kinda reminds me of my 98 S1 carb set up.. just NO JET right there)... QUESTION: ***CAN YOU SIMPLY UNPLUG THE TPS, BUY A NEW ONE AND INSTALL IT WITHOUT ANY RESETTING OR A COMPUTER ?????? Thanks, Matt. |

It may be that the idle is just a hair too high. If it's been warmer around your area lately it could be that the engine is running a little hotter than your used to. The combination of these will certainly cause exactly what you're describing. |

check your throttle body. see if the shaft is starting to break. Mine was doing the same thing right before it broke. you unplug it, you need a reset (Message edited by tom_b on July 09, 2007) |

Temp is a tad warmer here than that of the previous owner... PLUS.. its been sitting for about 4 MONTHS... Its REAL HUMID here as well... Shaft seems to be good. **IDLE is set right about 1K to 900 rpm. Hope it goes away as i start riding it some.... Its really NOT doing it tooo bad... but just know that it should not do it at all... We will see... Matt. |

Matt My 99 S3 had a recall on the throttle cables. It was doing the same. Found damaged strands at the throttle housing end. Joe |

What, Danny just said, always check the moving parts that wear first, that's generally where trouble comes from. If you've got a frayed cable it can do that, likewise if it's kinked. |

OKAY.... Here is WHAT I DISCOVERED... When the bike is FIRST started (COLD)... I sprayed a tad of WD40.. around the Intake.. NO PROBLEMS... After I rode the bike a few miles and it warms up... The RPM holds AGAIN at 1800 - 1600 ONLY FOR ABOUT A 1/2 second... THEN BACK TO NORMAL till I get on the throttle again... DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A TPS RESET ISSUE???? Thanks Matt. |

doesn't sound like a reset needed. maybe bad cable. when my throttlebody went, my cable was also bad. maybe bad throttlebody broke cable, or bad cable broke throttlebody. maybe exhaust or intake sensor, i'd check cable |

Would it be a cable IF its ONLY doing it EVERY time at that SAME RPM range????? It ONLY does it when the bike is HOT and ONLY at the 1800-1600 rpm range.... ***KEEP this in mind... the bike DID sit up for about 4 MONTHS.... before I got it.. This is the first real riding the bike has done in that time... Thanks, Matt. |
