in this day and age, we hear so much of bad customer service experiences (definatly on this board).... well i've just had a very good experience and need to tell everyone about it....... for starters, i bought a USED but in very good condition scorpion helmet from a fellow badwebber (key word being USED)the very first day i use the helmet, one of the sideplates (or twistgrips as they call them) comes off and down the road somewhere it goes.... so i email scorpion usa to ask where i can get a replacement. (expecting to pay 10-20 bucks or so) and here is the response i got. Dear Mr. Simmons, I will ship two faceshield rings to you at: xxx xxxth Ave. Martin, MI 49070 Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you at this time! Taylor McGinley Sales Support & Customer Service Scorpion Sports, Inc. 888.672.6774 he did have the wrong part that i needed, so i emailed again stating this, and here is the response... Dear Mr. Simmons, Thank you for returning my email. The silver faceshield rings are already in the mail as of yesterday. No need to return them back to us. You may keep them incase you do need them someday! I will be shipping you a new set of titanium twistgrips today. Please let me know if I can get you anything in the future! That's good news! M2nc really likes his Scorpion helmet. I just purchased a new transition face shield today. Pretty cool accessory that Scorpion offers. |

I had the same experience with Arai. I broke the side plate on mine the Tuesday before MBIV. I called the Service Pavillion and asked that they overnight one to me. They covered it as a warranty item. I simply paid for the overnight cost, which was fair. I also emailed Arai and got a call from them the same day. The customer service person asked what the problem was. I told her that the first two sideplates were defective on the helmet and had already been replaced. I told them that I had recently broken another side plate and proposed that there might be a problem with the plastic on the frost helmets. She apologized and sent a full set so that I would have spares for free. That was fantastic! |

I have a Scorpion Helmet for just that reason. And I highly recommend Alpinestars too. They're pricey, yes, but they still send me, when I call or e-mail, metal toe guards for my 1978 Highpoint boots. Free. |

Cochise, You can call these folks as a certified Arai service center: http://www.theservicepavilion.com/ I talked to Robert: Phone (toll-free): 877-819-2245 Contact : Robert Fax : 717-354-0437 Email : Robert@theservicepavilion.com The Service Pavilion 44 South Kinzer Avenue New Holland, PA 17557 I also went online at the Arai website and used the "Contact Us" email function and they called me within 24 hours. I needed them overnighted in order to have a helmet for MBIV, so I didn't want to take any chances. Either way, you will get taken care of. |

Phat J, thanks for the info. I stopped by a Cycle Gear store tonight on OKC and tried on a Shoei and an Arai. Both nice lids, but a little pricey $450+. I asked for the Scorpion helmets, but they didn't have any in the store. So I guess when I get back home I have an excuse to ride the Buell to the local Triumph dealer that sells them to try them on. I like the flip down tinted lens in the new 1000 series that is coming out soon. |

+1 for Arai... ...last year they did a voluntary recall of multiple models that were having an issue with the rubber around the bottom edge of the helmet shell coming unglued...no safety issue, just aesthetics - yet they paid UPS shipping both ways for any helmet in the models specified and repaired them at no cost to the customer(Must have cost them a lot) +1 for Alpinestars... ...my GP Pro gloves split down the seam of one of the fingers when I went down recently. I sent the gloves back to Alpinestars - they had explained they do not warranty crash damage but would assess whether the glove could be repaired. They called yesterday to say they'll be sending me a brand new pair. Both companies will have no problem keeping me as a return customer |

I was about to write them off. The dealers are worthless for fitting advice and assistance IMO. I think the quick change shield feature is fussier than it needs to be. But after this situation, I think I'll stay a little longer! |

Well those two German fellas that tour the European shows with the Arai service truck are bloody villains. At the NEC Show I went with a friend to have his not one year old Arai Condor sorted by these Arai representatives. They replaced the broken side plates, as a pair, and charged him for the privilege. This year though, they did have a great display of many racers old Arai's.
