So the Reverend Horton Heat was in Tulsa tonight, so I figured I would go check them out. I had heard they put on a killer show and they were playing at the historic Cains Ballroom. It's a small venue (1,500 max) that still draws a lot of good shows. If you have not heard of this band they are 100% rockabilly. In fact one of their tracks is on Buell's website under videos.

http://www.buell.com/en_us/mania/videos.asp

There is no doubt these three musicians are very good. They play at a pace that makes their hands and fingers look like a blur. The bassist (Jimbo) plays an upright bass and he surprising looks kinda like Erik. Doesn't he play bass too?

Anyway, the show had several highlights for me. One was the drum solo. It was the best one I have ever heard in real life. Then, they did a couple covers of Johnny Cash that gave me shivers.

To close out the night, they came back out for an encore song and played...you guess it,"PsychoBilly Freakout"...the same song that is on Buell's website.

I wore my Buell shirt to the concert but I'm not sure if any of them saw it or not. You can tell these guys are into Hot Rods and things that go fast. Their instruments and cloths had flames all over them. It was a good show and I'm glad I went on a last minute decision. Check them out if they make it to your town and you want to hear some unique rock music!

Stupid work...They came through here Thursday, and of course, I had to work. I saw them a very, very long time ago. I didn't know who they were at the time, but ever since then, I've been hooked.

Their song "In Your Wildest Dreams" led to an interesting relationship with a very attractive southern gal once.

The "Rev" is cool. I never saw him in concert but sure would like to. For anyone interested, check out his 1999 album 'Holy Roller' it's a greatest hits combo.

Liquor in the front!!!

I couldn't agree more - R.H.H. is one of the best rockabilly shows you can take in. I've been a big fan for quite some time and I already have tickets to his show in early May when he visits Seattle.
If you're a fan of rockabilly music this is a show not to be missed.

Used to see Reverend Horton Heat back in the mid-80's while back in college in Denton, TX. Back then, he was playing the college clubs and fraternity house parties.

Got pictures of him playing guitar, lying on his back, while doing the 'gator' on the lawn in the "beer garden" of the Sigma Alpha Mu frat house.

Great stuff.

I've seen the Reverend a number of times and they always put on a real good show.

If you're into Rockabilly I highly recommend a group called The Dempsey's. The put on probably the best rockabilly show I have ever seen. They play one song where they literally all switch instruments. They also were in Walk the Line as Elvis's band.

Digging in the attic for something else entirely & fell over some of my old vinyl, inc Robert Gordon with Link Wray, excellence indeed, & he's about to tour Europe too.

I love the Rev! I've seen him a few times. He is going to be playing in Sturgis this year at the Full Throttle.
