Oh man, am I pumped. After a stuttering start, winter really set in up here in the Northeast, and the past few days have been especially cold. Temps around the area this morning were well in the negative digits.

But alas, Spring pushes through. Tomorrow will bring temps into the 40's, and we'll be touching 50 by Wednesday. Monday is going to be in the high 40's and no rain, which means I'LL BE PICKING UP MY BIKE!!! It's been a LONG winter for me - buying a new bike in December really tests ones patience. Of course, as soon as I get it home I need to take the muffler off and send it out ;)

To hold me over, a buddy and I are going to take out his bikes on Sunday. He's even going to be nice enough to let me ride his XB12S. What a guy.

Wish me luck, and I hope EVERYONE with a bike around my part of the country is out and about this weekend - it's going to be first ridable weekend in a LONG time for us.

yes, winter's been long here too.....have a great and safe ride this weekend!!

I trucked my 9r to my house last night (it was at a buddy's getting the TPS reset (race ecm installed during winter) and having a complete fork servicing done)....it's essentially ready to go once the snow pack gets off my gravel driveway and some rains wash the crud off the roads... c'mon spring!!

12r - my dealership did me a huge favor. I basically traded my Sportster as my down payment, and they agreed to hold the Buell for me until I got my tax return in March (I don't know how taxes work where you are, but because I'm still a student I got a big chunk of change back). Works out perfectly since I didn't have to make any bike or insurance payments all winter, and I got free indoor storage until Spring.

The best news is I'm going to be able to afford to buy the bike outright and not need a loan.

Well, got the bike yesterday. It was a BEAUTIFUL day for riding up here, but the snow melt was a big problem. Lots really wet spots on the road, and some were a little deeper than I care for.

But I got it home safe. I've never seen so much dirt and crud from a 16 mile ride in my life.

I had it home for 10 minutes and started messing with the thing. Nothing big, but I put my airbox trim on, the frame pucks, and took the passanger footpegs off. It looks much better without them, and no one's riding on the back of this for a while until I'm PLENTY used to it.

The dealer also decided not to set up the suspension. I even asked how I would go about and I was told to read the manual. Oh well. I can't remember the guys name, but I set the suspension up according to that "Aggressive Riding" chart, so we'll see how that works out - I haven't been able to ride it again yet.

The mirrors come off today provided I can find the set of bar ends I've been looking for. And a quick run to Home Depot for some longer bolts for the fairing.

Yesterday was a GOOD day ;)

Congrats on the new bike ! IMO the Firebolt looks better without the passenger pegs and hangers. What tyres did you get with it ?
