I dropped my bike off over one month ago and forked over a large insurance check to fix it two weeks and two days ago (new tank, tail section and seat). I LIVE 90 MINUTES FROM THE FACTORY!!!! I have missed two weeks of riding already.... does anyone know what the deal is ????

I took the bike to an independent repair shop because they are technically superior to the Harley Shop in town (they put my rear tire on crooked...). Is this the problem?

They (the shop) told me that Buell will not ship quicker to in state shops just because the people on either coast whine about it... what the heck is going on here???

Sometimes I've heard they have to wait for paint. The in-town shop should have a direct pipeline to the warehouse, an indy shop might have to go thru the in-town shop for the body parts and you might end up with a double mark-up on costs.

What are they going to do with your old body parts? I might be interested in the tail section to do some trimming/testing on if it isn't too crispy. I might be interested in your old seat too, condition of covering doesn't matter too much as I've got some trimming ideas for a seat too.

Mike,

The only things I asked for from the old parts are the decals from the tank. The seat is fried on the left front as is the tail section... tank has a bulge where it burned... not sure what they are doing... I thought those parts were molded in color??? WTF? It is still annoying.

Not sure about the molded in color on the M2's, thought they were painted and that the Blast and then the XB's were the first with true molded-in color. When I had my M2 bodywork replaced several years ago in Seattle the shop there said they had to wait for the paint shop to do a black paint run of plastics. I could be wrong though, maybe Court or Daves will jump into this one and give the straight skinny true info.

On the tail section I'd be doing a lot of trimming where your's is probably burnt, but if they bin the parts then that's okay.

I understand the annoying aspect of this.

Any word on your interview yet?
(Not meaning to change the thread subject .... )

Painted parts on M2s --
I suspect the altering shipments to local areas to keep coasters from whining is, er, less than entirely accurate -- ordering through an idie shop may have slowed things, a little, as there is yet another party in the supply chain

couple weeks for body parts for a non-current bike ain't too bad, actually, though that knowledge does nothing to ease the pain of watching others ride, I know

Just curious.

Uh, yeah, there's enough straight lines in this thread that I've been typing on thin ice all morning just waiting for someone to come along with a zinger or two.

Yes.

They told you what we call a "fib".

ANSWER: All body parts for Buell are readily available.

Call Chuck in customer service. There is no reason you should not have them by the end of the week.
