Ever wonder where the name of that road came from?

Airport Road is likely to lead to, and perhaps, from, an airport (avoid it -- it's boring).

River Road, similarly, almost always has something to do with a local blue line (rivers make great roads, have ya noticed?).

Stagecoach Trail is likely the path traversed by, wait for it, a stagecoach (btw, almost anything with "Trail'" "Pike," or "Gap" in the name is worth exploring

My Wingman and I discovered this road earlier in the summer -- I have no idea of the roots of the name -- mebbe some alert reader can illuminate thi issue?

Dude - someone (with lots of time & $) should write a book! That has always fascinated me - how did the name happen & by whom & when?

Sorry, Bomber that one's a mystery to me!

AL

Ps - while on the subject of roads, We need to lobby to get a law passed. When ever those car ads show some major cool twisty road to display the roadworthy prowess of their newest luxo-sedan, They should be required to state road name, number, and general area it's located! just a little line up in the corner saying something like "Route 93, SW Montana" or the like. Whatdya think?

Swamp angel seems to have anumber of meanings:

1 mosquitoes {grin}
2 A large Rifled Cannon that the Union shelled Charlotte with (36 round befor eit blew it's breech out!)
3 A female Paul Bunyon TYpe in Tennesee that saved settlers and their supplies by rastlin a grizzer bear --

I was asked to remove the Dildo, NF pic from my screensaver at work because it was 'too suggestive'.

Back in PA, we have a town called Intercourse; the enterprising locals sell 'I (heart) Intercourse buttons and bumperstickers.

The town next to Intercourse, PA is named Blue Ball. When the ATC had its first Road Apple Rally there in 1999, we ate at a Restaurant there.
There is also a Climax, Colorado. It's at 10,000 ft. elevation and is home to a large Molybdenum mine.
I wonder how Snipatuit Rd. in Plymouth, MA got its name?
