Ok, the header came in today.... The Header Shoe will be here tomorrow... I know I need to grab new exhaust gaskets... Anything else I should be looking into? Should I have to worry about the studs? I have put alot of miles on it... So.... Any and all input will be great.... hoping to tackle this in the after noon tomorrow, will have a buddy to help... Just wondering..... Thanx Chase |

go slowly when you put it on, and place a rag over your timing cover or else you may scratch it. If your voltage regulator is located on the front of the motor, remove it first. Torque all the bolts from the exhaust ports back, finishing at the outlet. Putting the racing header on is my least favorite job. |

no, but the pieces fit like one of those metal ring and horseshoe puzzles where you look at the puzzle and figure there is no way this ring will come off. The best way to describe it that you have to line up the rear exhaust port, keep it there without fastening it and rotate the header around the motor. It's going to take a few tries and a little frustration. |

Chase, I think I have a set of instructions for race header installation. I will be heading up to the shop this afternoon, I will try to dig them out for you. If you have a fax# I can send you a copy. Patrick |

Chase, Cardinal rules of header installation: Observe the miniscule 7-9 foot lb torque spec at the head studs, but do it 5 times. Torque, drive bike short while, torque, repeat 5 times. After the 5th time, it won't loosen any more. Everything loose until everything is aligned. If you tighten it up with any pre-stress, it WILL break something, guaranteed. Al Al |
