I have read a few posts about switching out a motor with an aftermarket motor like S&S. What all is involved with doing this? Like the tranny mounting etc.?? Not that I want to do it but I am very curious as to how it may or may not work. ThANKS!! I would just like to add that I rode again today and my 97 S-1 was not hurting for any power at ALL. What kinda gain could you get from swapping the engine?? |

I dont have an answer to your question but I just checked out the S&S website on-line catalog and was amazed that they made 91" and 100" motors for Buells. I just bought my first Buell, 2000 S3T and am blown away by the power it has. Imagine having the extra cubes offered by the 91" or 100". I am curious to hear from anyone who may have done this too. |

Aaron had the 100 inch in his S-2 based bonneville bike, needed a little massaging to fit height wise.Lots of cheaper ways to get more power.1250 kit and NRHS XB heads, some different cams,I had a nice 88" motor in stock cases. It rocked.S&S cases are for big HP #s.Gonna have to spring for some soon--ouch!! |

100" = $10,000 And you need a new front mount also... Of course if you can afford to put a $10,000 motor in a bike that is valued at $4,000 you probably are not to worried about the cost of the front mount. |

And this is Rocket on JVV's superb S1 at Bonneville. I had a timing slip somewhere for it at 144mph if memory serves. What do you get for your money? QUALITY RELIABILITY AND POWER. Incidentally I thought the S&S motor was $6000. Rocket |
