Speaking of Ironworkers...I was having a smoke outside the dealership the other day and a guy on s Sportster started a conversation. Said he was an welder/pipefitter and his Union hall had put out a call for folks who wanted to go to NYC to work at ground zero. $63/hr, 12 hr shifts, 7 days a week. Maybe the guy was blowin smoke up my skirt? | ||

Bob, You worked for MK. What a mess when they came apart. Boeing is going to have some interesting growing/shrinking plans in the next few years. Defence is up, commerical is down, and were in the middle. Enron stocks certs were probably cheaper than the newspaper. Arvel  | ||

Arvel, Can you believe, Dennis Washington buy's out MK and then he addes Rathion to his list. Rathion had a bunch of jobs in the dumper. Rumer has it that Dennis spent 750 million to get the jobs straightend out but ended up going BankRupt. I would have liked to be the little mouse in the corner to hear what really went on. Bob | ||

Bob, I'd say something along the lines of: We're about 25 percent done with these projects and spent 80 percent of the money? Can we fix this? Raytheon and MK got paid usually based on production hour of personnnel. You can show a huge profit in a specific division if your Production Personnel bill all of their time to a project budget. Only problem is, people abuse this. The pressure to make a profit at one of these companies is and can be incredible. Like I don't need to tell you. Glad I'm not using that type of accounting at my office. Yet. Arvel | ||

Well guys, I spoke too soon. Today my company is laying 200 people, 150 of which are full time. Localy only 13, but their still friends. My self and my group remain in tact, but we loose resources we depend on. SHIT!!! | ||

As GM of a Restaurant, business is a little soft, but it seems that food is one of the last casualties of a poor ecomomy. Ppl still need to eat. But, am looking for something with not so many hours required, it's cutting into my riding time! So you all can help MY economy by stopping by to eat! I-70, Exit 53 in Kansas, Colby is the town, Montana Mike's is the Steakhouse. And if it's not the best meal you've had in recent history, I'll buy! (BadWebbers only ;-) We have steaks up to 66oz, so it should fill up most any of you! | ||

I think it's time for a change, anybody hiring? Sometimes the hassles of the day to day job are not worth it when the people in command finally listen to what you need 1 week before a project is due and you've been telling them what you need for the past 18 months. Now they want to know why the project will be delayed, and they don't want to hear reasons or excuses, just who can they blame (as long as they don't have to blame themselves). So I anticipate that during the next three working days instead of doing what I need to do to complete the project I'll instead be spending my time getting interrupted explaining why I'm not working on what I need to work on to get the project done, and telling the boss that you're not working on it is because you're currently talking to him only gets him into his hysterical yelling mode. Like I said, sometimes the job just isn't worth the hassle, so is anybody hiring? Apart from all that everything's fine in the workplace.  |
