Well it is not a full bike review, but an interesting article, June 2005. The author, Mitch Boehm, was offered an XB12R for a 200 lap team race with Buell Press Manager Paul James. The article starts with Mitch recalling many articles in the past that were not very flattering toward Buell. He ends up doing a number of laps on the bike (which had a Buell race kit, Buell race suspension?, and headwork by Hals) and enjoys himself. As a team they took 5th in their class. The article is fun to read as he changes his opinion of Buell and comes to appreciate the bike.

That guy is the reason I no longer have a subscription to that magazine. BTW...His name is spelled Mitch "Hondas Bitch" Boehm.

So, you can't stand Boehm 'cause he likes Hondas as much as you like Buells? Makes total sense to me.

BTW, I thought he was Mitch "Yamaha FZ1 Bitch" Boehm.

Mitch Boehm worked for American Honda for a couple of years before he became an editor at Motorcyclist. I'm surprised that he said anything good at all about any Buell.

I enjoy the stuff he writes, if he came to appreciate Buells more recently so much the better. I have a subscription, and learn a lot from it.

I have Motorcyclist and Sport Rider. I prefer Sport Rider a lot more. They get alot of the same pictures, but sportrider seems less bias. I do think they take there 600cc and 1000cc bike comparisons WAY to seriously. There just isn't that much difference between the bikes. They really have to look hard to find differences. But it is usually entertaining. The riding tips articles they write are outstanding and very practicle to the everyday rider

Not at all....If he wants to praise Honda while doing a revue of a Honda thats fine. Problem I had was when he did his stories about different bikes and somehow it seemed to have "Not as good as the XXX Honda". Kinda got old after a 2 year subscription.

Boehm HAS reduced (greatly) his political ranting in the mag -- rumors have it that his showing up drunk at new bike demos has also lessened a like amount --

his writing in the past (not just on Buell) has given me the impression that he makes up his mind about something, and has a difficult time changing it, even in the face of overwhelming proof that things have changed -- he is, of course, not the only person to suffer from hardening of the mind b4 the arteries, but it's sad when a person with such a bully pulpit displays that character trait

It sounds a little like the new owners of the mag had a woodshed conversation with the Butcher -- bout time, too

nuthin wrong with having worked for Honda -- it's a great comapny that makes great products --

while I like the riding and wrenching features they have a great deal, their editorial staff seems confused about what it is they wish to be -- unbiased reporters on the scene, bad boyz on bikes, shills for the industry . . . . . . ah well, they'll figure it out

the new design for the mag is strange -- the multi-part table of contents has been reduced to uselessness (not too much of a loss, as I"m sure few consult it), and the reversed out type on fotos is tough to digest in any but the brightest light (remind me to put 100 watters in the boys room), but admitting, after trumpeting your new design, that you've gone back to the drawing board to address readability issues seems, er, the product of a rush job

it occured to me the the leadership of both Cycle WOrld and Motorcyclist are getting a little long in the tooth -- they had, essentially, the same leaders for quite some time -- while I respect and enjoy Cycle World a great deal, and read MCist for the hands on stuff, it'll be interesting to see what happens next, yes?
