I feel better about my Big Oil Adventure at teh track. I lost a segment of the gasket to the cam cover.

I picked up a new one and the part had been superceded by a better one with metal sandwiched between impregnated material.

so, apparently I'm not the first, and it's not uncommon. BTW, was told to install it clean and dry. no shelack, or schmoo.
