I have a ‘96 S2 that I’m slowly getting back to roadworthy shape. When I got it, the speedometer drive unit was trashed and the cable was missing. I have replaced both with new parts. Here’s the rub - I was pushing the bike around the garage and noticed that the needle was moving more than it should (5-10mph?). Also, the trip odometer doesn’t seem to be working. What triggers the reset? Think I need a new speedo? I’d rather get a new one before the old one eats the new parts. Thanks, Jeremy |

Jeremy, There is a small cable in the back of the speedo that resets the trip odo when you spin the knob. |

They also made two speedo drives with different ratios. Don't remember what the ratios were but both were for the front wheel speedo drive and mount the same on the hub. since you replaced the drive you might want to make sure you bought the right one. |
