Ok, Hello! I am new here and to Buells. I have been searching around the board and the Internet for problems similar to mine but have not found any thing.

I had to change my belt and when I went to put the isolator back together i must have fudged up the threads in the swing arm mounting blocK. Just like you are not supposed to do. I have been searching for a positive results fix for this. What I don't understand here is that I have a tap and die set and everything seems to be ok. Tap threads down the hole with easy and the die went over the bolt fine. When I try to thread the bolt in it grabs a little and then spins out like it's cross threaded. Everything seems to be lined up and the left side is back together already. So anybody had any success in this situation or am I looking at a new component? what about Thread replacement?
Thanks,
Greg

Oh yeah I forgot. This is on a 2001 M2. It has k&n filter and a Vance and Hines slip on. Everything else seems to be stock from what I can tell.

Thanks

Could the isolator be misaligned? Hole in the isolator not lined up with the threads? There's a locating pin in the isolator that slips into a hole in the frame. Also, make sure you've got them in right side up. The bolt should appear to be at the bottom of the opening in the frame.

The isolator is on the pin and yes it appears to be on the bottom. The isolators appear to have been replaced at some point. They are in very good condition. The bolts however are t-60 torn button heads. most replacements I have seen and have read posts about them being 1/2 Allen sockets.

The Allen heads are original. The new stronger isolators come with torx bolts. I reused my Allen heads, since I have had less than good fortune with torx. At least, the isolator upgrade kit that I bought came with torx.

And of course, later model years that those new isolators came stock on would have the torx bolts.

Try the bolt without the iso does it screw in? If it does then the iso is slightly mis aligning with the hole not allowing proper threading. You may need to loosen the front Iso to give it room to move.
