Hey gents,

What am I missing in order to remove the cam cover. I have all the side bolts out and the manual is less than useful.

Thanks,

JP

You have to remove the timing cover and timing cup as well. Also there are two lines that you will have to remove the fittings to pull the lines off. Timing cup is 5/16" btw.

+1 ^

You also need to ensure no pressure on the cams, you'll need to pull both rocker box assemblies to pull pushrods if not done.

Pull both front and rear top cover, transmission in 5th gear, pull spark plugs.

One cylinder at a time, I always start with rear for no particular reason.

Rotate rear wheel by hand until intake pushrods drops, wiggle the rocker arm, if it moves side to side at all it means there is no load on the rocker arm and you can pull that rocker box.

Repeat for other cylinder.

If you want a job guide I wrote PM me. It compliments the service manual, does not replace it, but fills in or expands on things missing in service manual.
