anyone ever take an oil pump apart? I have the pump removed from the bike and the end cap removed but how the hell do you remove the center drive shaft? it mores in and out a little but not seeing how it gets removed. I dont want to pry and havnt found any online info on this.

Assuming it's from the X1 in your profile & you don't have a manual: The gear shaft is secured into the pump body by a small retaining ring (circlip) & thrust washer which should be plainly visible after sliding the gerotor parts off the shaft. The manual recommends replacing the retaining ring & O ring

yes its my x1 and i do have a manual... didnt happen to find anything in the manual reguarding a clip though, maybe i missed it. Im not seeing how the gerotor parts come off the shaft though.....

It may be oil "stiction" hanging them in there. I took my gears out to clean everything when I rebuilt a S1w. I didn't need to remove the clip as I left the shaft in there. Try gently tapping the pump on a block of wood to jar them out.

you were right!!! thanks.... after letting it sit and then tapping on the side with a wood handle it fell right apart.... thanks

just finished the cad file-



billet oil pump cap. Im going to keep he factory body and powdercoat it gloss black. Cap will be billet and clear anodized. Should look pretty good with the cut cam cover and black nylon braided oil lines coming out of it.
