I've suspected that the intake seals I changed out this summer didn't set right and that I still had an intake leak (occasional backfiring/slow-ish return to idle). This afternoon I rode the bike for 30 min and when I got home, I decided to do a leakdown test with a propane torch I had from a project. While the bike was idling, I held the propane near the rear intake flange, from the transmission/clutch (left) side. I was able to get the bike to stop idling and die. I repeated twice to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Anyways, seems like I need to give this another shot, but I'm a little frustrated that I effed it up the first time. Does anyone have any experience w/ the new TWIN intake flange/o-ring kit?

Thanks in adv!

Make sure you use Silglyde or something like it on the seals. It helps on installation and it allows the intake and heads as they go thru the heat cycles to move and the seal to keep flexible.
