I was thinking about swapping the stock M2 headlight for something like that on the XBs. Anyone already done something like this ?

I was going to do this but I was advised in the XB section that the smaller xb lights are junk. But it is a simple plug and play you would just need to make a mount. If you are going throught the trouble mightvas well go HID.

i was happy with the XB lights on my X1. I felt they were brighter then my X1 headlight but I did have an HID in the hi-beam side.

Are you looking to mount the XB bracket/housing setup with the XB lights and flyscreen like i did or just the headlights themselves?

here is a pic of the XB headlights on my X1, but this was after i put the XB triples on. I did have the same setup on the bike with the X1 triple as well.

it doesnt take a little work. You need the left and right XB housing mounts, XB flyscreen, XB headlights.

You need to grind a hole on both the left and right mount to clear the top section of the upper triple. Then you need to drill and tap 3 holes on the front face of your upper triple for mounting. Will need 3 (1/4-20) bolts and 3 0.5" spacers. This allows the it to bolt right one. The fun part it though trying to figure out how to mount the factory gauges, used XB gauges, or use something aftermarket. I designed a cad file for the dash to house the factory gauges and grew the housing out of nylon on a SLS rapid prototyping machine... Im pretty sure someone else was able to get the XB gauges to work, although im not 100% positive.

You will also need to drill a hole on the top of the lower triple infront of the frame neck and make a small aluminum bracket to mount the bottom of the headlight to the triple.

I've dome it with an XBR fairing/lights and like it. Not too difficult.

You could ask the man how its bolted up without the xb side modules!

no, i have factory X1 gauges in a custom housing that i designed to the same shape as the XB housing. I cut the XB gauge mounting locations off and welded new bolt locations for the X1 gauges could fit.

I did a dual headlight conversion on my X1W as well. I bought dual headlight kit online and added a HID kit, and fabricated a pair of brackets I could just bolt on the stock ones to accommodate the dual headlight windscreen.

Fitment of the brackets (drilled to mount to the stock brackets and to install the well nuts).

Finished brackets (I powdercoated them after).

Replacement windscreen with X1W sticker.

Finished product.

How do you like the lights at night? I did those same lights on an old streetfighter build as was not impressed...I wanted to put an hid projector inside but I don't know if the is one small enough.

I rarely ride at night but the few times I did, the HID kit was still a lot better than the halogen bulbs the twin headlight kit came with.
