I was about to make a bracket to attach a steering damper to the 1-1/8" frame member on my M2 when I got an idea.

I found a 1-1/8" bore black oxide coated mild steel clamp collar at Home Depot for $9.37. Store SKU# 307213

It fits perfectly and will make a very strong mounting point. Looks nice too.

It could also be used for lots of other mounting applications on out tube frame Buells so I thought I would pass it along.

I was more wanting to see how he used it.

I'm interested too. How do you attach anything to it? Weld something on? Tap some threads into the top of the clamp?

Havn't decided yet.

Possibilities include welding a tab on to it, drill and tapping it for a mounting bolt, and using a longer fastener to mount stuff to it.

It looks a lot like the part that Buell uses to attach the lower fairings on a S3T.
