Went for a ride today with a few mates and the Buell was running well until after we stopped. It felt like I had a blocked injector... Tried a few things and it got worse and then i noticed a reduced throw in the throttle, so started thinking broken throttle shaft. Managed to limp home and took the air cleaner off and it looked like I'd dropped one of the throttle butterfly screws. Fortunately it was on the up side of the intake valve. Then I noticed a bit more as I pulled it apart.
All repaired and working again now..

You got lucky. Mine was sucked into the rear cylinder. Replaced the head and bored the cylinders.

You are lucky not only the screw didn't get ingested but also your throttle didn't get stuck wide open at the worst possible time. When mine broke the screw remained in place but my throttle stopped responding to input and I really had to baby her home. Fortunately I was only a mile away from home. The replacement TB had a slightly thicker shaft.
