Needing help guys,
Just replaced my clutch cable(was not adjustable from previous owner, corroded together). Put the new cable on and adjusted according to maintenance manual. Ran and shifted fantastic for 2 weeks. On my way back from work, noticed when I shifted into 1st gear and when I would let out the clutch at low RPM's, you could here and feel it kinda "clunk" while engaging into gear. Went to shift into 1st pulling in my driveway and BOOM no clutch.... puttered into my garage and put it in neutral and shut it off. Put it on the stand, took of the clutch cover, and felt that the adjustment screw was loose. My initial reaction was it was just loose and needed tightened. I tried tightning that screw and it wasn't tightning. Upon futher looking I saw that whole adjustment screw and assembly could be pulled out of the clutch. It came out and I found the bearing in the metal mesh completely tore apart. I took out what was laying there. And it's still sitting in the garage ready to be worked on.

Any knowledge from you guys on what to do next would be fantastic. I have zero idea where to go from here. And just bought a house so on a limited budget.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

It's normal for some of that assembly to come out, but not normal for a bearing to be in pieces.

Do you have the updated primary chain tensioner in there? If not, start there.

If the bearing did go to pieces, I would pull the primary apart, pop out the transmission, and give everything a good cleaning. Not that bad on a tuber actually, but you will want a service manual to stay on track and get torques and adjustments right. Inspect the 5th gear drive assembly bearings while the tranny is out. The stator bell is magnetic, so look carefully there for stator slicing debris.

Then rebuild the clutch and figure out what all is broken there.
