I am getting all the parts to rrebuild my top end. I wanted to get aftermarket pistons. I just bough. Wiseco k1685 pistons. These are 10.5.1 compression. The specs said they would work for all buell and sportster within my year with stock 1200 heads. This bike runs thunderstorms heads. Does anyone know if these pistons will work in my bike or do i have to get different pistons. Also i was wondering if the s3t have the same heads as the x1. I find a lot of conflicting results. | ||

s3 & x1 have same heads I would check with one of our sponsors, and consider getting a kit, Mix and match home brew can be an expensive education. Buell top ends up to '03 have some differences from the sportys YMMV | ||

Since the s3 and x1 have the same thunderstorms heads i think im going to get the wiseco k1700. They fit the s3 and all other models with thunderstorms heads. Thats alot for your input. | ||

Do you have a shop lined up to fit the parts correctly and bore the cylinders ( correctly?) I Recomend Cyclerama, they have done work here for a number of people ( me included ) and are a sponsor, If you have not purchased the pistons, consider their slugs as well, if the boring / honeing are done wrong then you could be looking at some trouble. Sticking new slugs in worn holes does not work well either, the pistons have complex geometries, and a knowlegable shop can fit them correctly or determine if its ok to put the new parts in honed jugs. Anyone who is thinking of using wiseco pistons to rebuild their buells with thunderstorms heads use k1700. They worked extremely well. I also went up to mild n8 Andrew cams and a full d&d exhaust. My bike is now a monster. Happy with all the parts i put the in. And i added a grip more into the engine. Any questions on what i used feel free to ask. |
