This may be nothing...I've recently added a HBBI air cleaner (think Forcewinder, but bigger), and V&H exhaust. The intake also has a filter for the breathers, which, due to its size, I routed to sit over the intake on top of the carb. As I ride, I'm hearing a nice exhaust note, but also, in time with the engine "thump" a clacking of sorts. I only hear it with my face shield down; there's too much wind noise with it up. Any idea what I might be hearing? Is it noise from the heads as a result of the breather and filter being un-hidden from the stock intake setup? It appears to be in perfect sync with engine noise

It is most likely valve train noise. These valve trains are loud. You are probably hearing your intake valves thru the filter.

I would re-visit your breather set-up. The splooge ain't got no where to go the way you have it now. Need to run it to a catch can or other device, right now you have one cylinder running to the other and versa-vice

For the breather routing, try flipping the banjos 180 degrees, pointing down, and with the filter in the middle of an H pattern, if it will fit below the big intake:

That's what I thought, Tom, about the valve noise. The tubing for the breather was so thick, I couldn't get it between the frame and the cylinders. I'll look into getting smaller OD tubing. I like the catch cans I've seen on ebay, too. I assume you need to "t" the tubes and send just one into the can? Thanks for the suggestion, too, Chris.

Yes to the T to one tube. If you follow the V's in my ginchy diagram up above, you see flow downward, past the 2-ended filter like the one you have, downm then the right one bends or has an L fitting, heading out toward the rear, and the rear cylinder line would T into that coming down from above.

You can (should) definitely get some thinner line, like standard car fuel line.
