Kids and wife are still sleeping, time to sneak away for a quick ride and breakfast. Living just outside of the West Hills, I have great access to some amazing roads with better scenery. This is one of my favorite routes to Kettlemans. Used to do it on my bicycle when training for STP (Seattle to Portland). Little chilly this morning but worth it.
On Thompson Rd

Closed so down 53rd Ave

53rd is nice but I do not like to rip it up. Too pretty and lots of stuff on the road usually.
Down to Cornell, through the tunnels, past the bicyclist, headed towards 23rd and Lovejoy.
Love these carriage garages

Yeah, Kettlemans! Love the Stumptown coffee and bagels. Nice to warm up too.

Headed over to Icon to snap some pix of the bike. Love their gear!

Off to Thurman for some more views

Went up towards the Zoo and Rose garden then back down to Burnside to Skyline

Skyline to Germantown, no cars! Great way to finish the ride back to 185th.
Got home, the family was just waking up, time to start the day.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

That's a beautiful road. I love early Sunday morning runs too before the roads get crowded with the church crowd....
Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures.

I really like the look of the XB wheels on a tuber. Wish someone would make up some well made spacers so that this was a "drop in" change.

How do you find the gearing with the XB pulley?

Great ride.

GREAT PICS ! . . . My oldest lives in Portland and LOVES it . . I used to go there for Buell stuff quite a bit and fell in love with the roads, parts and bridges.

It's an amazing city!

Thanks Court, I was born here and couldn't think of anywhere else I would like to live.

The XB gearing is ok, little bit more off the line.

You picked a GREAT place to be born . . . in the City of Roses. Portland is famous for so many things it's tough to list . . coffee, gorgeous bridges, parks, roads, Microbreweries, Stumptown (and about 100 others) coffee and Dorothy McCullough Lee.

If fact . . you don't have to look much further than the story of Dorothy McCullough Lee to understand the will of the folks of Portland.

My son recently purchased his first house . . a beautiful bungalow in some neighborhood known for historic bungalows. He's an amazing guy, amazing musician and writer, who would never dream of owning a car. He rides is bike to the light rail, takes the train to work and grows most his own food.

Portland, as you know, is a city of bicycles and some very smart folks. Always interests me that Trek makes two bikes named after "places" . . the SoHo and the Portland . . the last 2 places Son #1 has lived.

I used to go to Portland quite a bit to push Buells when they were new. I rode a good deal with a group, mostly Triumph riders who were Intel engineers. I've never met an unkind person in Portland.

Keep the pics coming . . . by the way . . I also got a gallery of photos from the Oregon Coast Aquarium & Yaquina Bay Lighthouse this weekend.

Amazing place you were born . .

Remind me to tell you about the Buell I stole and took to Portland.
