There certainly are faster, better handling, more reliable bikes out there and some would argue there are better Buells out there (we all know different). So why ride a S2?

After owning a XB12R, XB12Scg, XB12X and 1125R I always came back to the S2. Even the S1 and S1W did not stir my soul like the S2 and S2T.

I guess it is a combination of things I really like about the S2 that always brings me back, the classic line, a gas tank that actually holds gas, easy to work on and the reliable Sporty motor. I think the thing that has me smiling when I ride it is there are very few out there; no one is really sure what it is (to include XB riders). It sounds great, it handles to my liking and I can carry everything I need. None of them have left me stranded and I would not question its ability to carry me from coast to coast. The number one thing about like about owning and riding the S2 is the other S2 owners… I never met a S2 owner I did not like. I cannot say that about the riders of other models of Buells.

I understand they are cheap on the used market and some people ride them until they can afford a Harley. That is fine by me, to each his own.

Why do you like/ride a S2?

Because all the cool kids ride one!

The more I looked at them the sexier I thought they looked. Oh the curves...

The only other bike they look like is their younger sister the S3 and once you know the two they look nothing alike.

I guess I just always had a thing for the older sister. LOL

For me, it was two things- the way the bags/lowers and bodywork all flow together, and a guest ride on none other than Aaron Wilson's personal S2T, which was "mildly" built with 107 RWHP. After that I was sold, but it took me over a year to buy one. I found it in the classifieds here, flew to Detroit to buy it and rode it 1600 miles home. Since then my butt's been pretty much glued to the saddle since, with about 35,000 miles in just over two years. Lately I've been lusting after a particular S1 though... Maybe it'll be available next season.

I seem to remember Court once quoted Erik that it resembled a reclining woman... I love that vision and picture it every time I stare at the profile.....

If you look at an S2 and "think Vargas Girl" you're not far off.

Take a photo of the S2 sometime and rotate it 90o to the right, stand the bike on the rear wheel.

That's no accident.

The body work does look good. i think I will take mine out for a ride tonight. it has cooled somewhat in arizona and it is very nice outside at night.

I love mine even more now that I have the kickstand conversion kit installed.

That kickstand conversion kit is nice... so are the bikes. I do not remember you having that sidestand in Colorado. Of course I was so overwhelmed with the bikes and people that I would not of noticed if it was on MY BIKE.

Are they making the sideplate/kickstand kits again? Coool. Thought I had gotten the last one years ago - it does make a HUGE difference in the peace-of-mind arena.

I'm late to the thread, so I'm gonna sound like a broken record - sexy lines, competent chassis, powerful enough for a 15 year old bike, good riding position even for a lanky bastard like me...and LUGGAGE.

It's like a great old pair of shoes. They'll take you anywhere, they fit perfectly, and you can always count on 'em. Sure, you may have to buy new laces once in a while...but so what? They're your favorite shoes!

I started my Buell life with an M2. Sold it once my license needed life support, and went with an HD bagger. License cleared up about the same time I found my S1W, and I got hooked on Buell again. And started dragging and scraping more and more chrome off the bagger at every turn. SO...I start looking for a "Buell Bagger" and found my S2 with all the T goodies. Well-maintained bike, original bodywork and paint, and great price - so I, of course, brought it home.

I haven't looked back since.

I own other Buells, but the S2 is the only one that I (and other people) can just stand there and look at. I look at the rest...but the S2? I just gaze, and contemplate. And I think I'm in pretty good company.

That speaks volumes about a bike that's nearly 2 decades old.
