Hey Guys

Im getting a strange noise for the X1 while driving, its kind of an irregular "DNK" noise & it sound like it is coming from either the mid to front of the bike.

Its only when the bike is moving so i cant seem to find it when its stationary. Nothing seems obviously loose & i dont think its coming from the engine.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

Things that could make the noise;
wheel bearing
exhaust system
front isolator
front motor mount
front end triple tree bearings
front rotor
loose fender
loose fuel tank

more info: how is it "irregular,"? Totally random? Is it repetitive, faster as you go faster, happens every single time the bike is moving?

Could be from the above list, or something really silly, like a keychain fob knocking around.

Do your best to describe it and when it occurs as possible.

Yeah happens when moving, even if the bike is coasting in neutral. It is irregular in that there isnt a beat to it, though it does seem to happen more frequently between 1500 & 3500 rpm
Then noise can be quite loud though it seems to be coming from the area aroung the yokes & the damper...though i could be wrong

Get up to a good speed, put it in neutral and shut her off. If it still makes the noise, bearings or loose bolt, frame exhaust. If not Motor related...

Have you installed the new front isolator?

I haven't heard this until today, but TWO different people that have recently installed the new front isolator have called today and told me that they are hearing a clunk or clank noise from somewhere up front. The new bolt IS a smaller diameter than the old bolt, so one theory is that it is the bolt against the mount.

Has anyone else experienced a new noise after installing the new front isolator?

Would you not think that if you put small size bolt("OD") in a OEM BOLT SIZE in the motor mount (larger "ID")that there would not be a NOISE !!!

You have TWO chose's:

DRILL out the isolator hole to fit the OEM BOLT OD SIZE ...

MAKE a SLEEVE to take take up the space so the motor mount thinks it has the OEM BOLT "OD" in it ...
