I have a 2002 X1. I purchased it a month or so ago and to pass inspection I had to install a rear hugger on it. I just noticed the hugger is getting marked up from it hitting when I hit a large bump. If I adjust the preload wont that raise height of the bike? If I adjust the dampening will that slow down the travel enough to make it not hit? Thanks.

adjust the preload - if it is hitting the fender it is unlikely that your sag is correctly set anyway...
