Was the rear exhaust mount aka a z bracket used on the S2 or did it just come with 2 flat strips?

Two flat strips for the S2. Other bikes may have the Z Bracket as stock.

THAnk you FrANK. I am trying to learn all i can about the different mounting brackets. Is the Z bracket interchangeable with the two flat straps and if so is the z bracket a better way to go?

I think it will fit and it is better. I bought one to do just what you suggest and if I can ever find it I am going to replace it on at least one S2.

I took a look at it and it will work on a stock exhaust. Not the race exhaust.

I put one on my S2 stock exhaust. I had to do a little grinding on the Z-bracket on the muffler end to get it to fit to the muffler and allow the mounting holes to line up. I think the Z-bracket was designed to fit with the big hoop band clamp the later model 99-02 bikes used.

The stock muffler for my x1 used a hoop design with the attaching bracket contained all in one piece.

The only separate bracket I've seen is the one d&d uses. It's a z shaped bracket that mounts to the bottom of the swingarm mounting block, and attaches to the separate clamp on the rear of the muffler. Hope that makes sense.

I can try to take pics of each tomorrow if it will help anyone.
