I replaced my 2000 M2 clutch cable with a sportster cable, seems to be the very same item. Not sure of X1, but I assume the same. |

By the way...at the same time I replaced the shifter with a Banks Shifter, the mounting boss kindof protects the clutch end of the cable. I know the Banks shifter is controversial (and pricey), but I love mine! |

The banke shifter is better than the stock crap! I would get a stainless steel braided clutch cable from Al @American Sport Bike. I have one and it looks sweet compared to the stockers. |

Get your clutch cable from www.anericansportbike.com ... If you drill a small hole over the cable end at the clutch lever to where you can "LUBE" the end in the clutch lever you will never again break a clutch cable !!! |

No hole required...I keep a bottle of Dri-Slide cable lube in the garage. It has a 3" long needle applicator. Pull clutch lever, slide needle into cable housing at the end, squeeze. I do it after every rainy ride |

I've got two questions. One is about the sportsters cable being the same as a Buell's Do they have to be the same year bike? Or will any sportster cable work ? I've got an 01 M2. My second question is about the Dri-Slide cable lube. Where can you get that? |
