John Mansell contacted me telling me he had a xl 4 valve head kit wich I put a deposit on july 3, 08 and sent him full payment of $3187 cnd on dec 16, 08 Its been over a year and I still do not have what I paid for and this sob even has my pistions too. I have been trying to email him and my email just get returned. I have try many times to phone him also with no luck. has anyone else here delt with this guy?, I have been worryed since dec 08 this guy was going to rip me off but biting my tounge in hopes of trying to get this thing done with him. Thx for the replys guys, yes I pm Aron, I have not heard from him yet. I have posted on a few forums where this John mansell has to see if anyone else has had any problems, I just got an email of a guy in europe that said it has been over 2 years for him dealing for head parts... this is BS. I got/had more info I have been sitting on since mid dec 08 that I have been biting my tounge on so I could just get this deal done with him (John Mansell). He originaly contacted me on the XL forum when I was looking for a set of XL feuling 4 v heads telling me he had complete kits in stock... link... http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php? p=2116147#post2116147 I guess contacting the cops over there will be the next step but I have a feeling they will tell me it is a civil issue. I was realy hopeing Aron or someone here might have been to his shop. I found photo pics of his place on google map. I will try to keep it short. this mess started back in january 2007 when john originaly contacted me at the XL forum saying he had xl 4valve kits to sell, I exchanged a good few emails with him then (which I still have), I looked on the net for him at that time to see if he posted in other places and I could not find anything. I told him soon after wards I was going to put the 4V project on short term hold (I was getting divorced) and a bit hesitant because I did not know who this guy was. When I got my personal problem delt with I looked into the 4Valve thing again and found a new company rpmhemi which I was going to contact and then I also found other posts of jurneyman/john mansell posting in 4valve related threads. I emailed john with more questions again and asked if it was a good time for him to do a deal, he said yes. SO I was going to try call and buy from the RPMHEMI company but I got suckered in with john about his 4v upgrades that no one else had but him, i sent him a deposit july3 ,08 in which at that time he said he would send me what I need to get started and he would need my pistons in 3 to 4 weeks (I rush ordered my pistions because of this), he then ask for more money and I sent him a second deposit on july 22, 08. After this it was always many excuses but never asked for my pistons. In december 08 I was worryed what to do, I emailed him and he was complaining about having no money, I thought either way I am in the shit now, what do I do?, either way who would send parts before they are paid for?. I offered to help by paying ALL moneys up front in hopes he would at least send me some of the parts asap. At that time I think he said he would have parts ready in febuary, so then on dec 16, 08 I sent him the rest of the money and my pistons... had kind of a bad vibe about doing it but was trying to think positive thoughts. shortly after I sent him the pistons and money again I was getting stupid emails from him, I was getting pissed, what could I do?. I desided to phone RPMHEMI and I spoke to Rich there and told him whats been happening, he told me then he knew who I was talking about and he had other calls of guys complaining on not getting there parts, he also mentioned other things. I asked if he had any xl 4valve kits, he said he was having problems too at the time because of being just ripped off by an X partner/employe?. Anyway he said he would have to put a XL kit together but NO problem. 2 weeks later I got a complete XL kit from him with upgrades for $2250 usd. So from here I got more pissed at this john mansell and tryed to push him for my parts or money back. Finaly after a few emails I sent him telling him he would not scew me over on this deal and to start with I would go public with this info, he finaly sent me some parts, a incomplete intake and incomplete rocker boxes over a month ago (btw, the rpmhemi kit from Rich looks much more inpressive than what I got so far from jurneyman). He emailed me saying he would contact me in a week and now it has been over a month and I have tryed to email him back but the emails get returned. I also phoned a good few times leaving messages on some automated message which he has never called me back (except once the first time I called). so here I am starting to go public. july 10 was the last time I heard from him. he has got my pistons and I am missing both assembled head castings, intake ends, gaskets and a good few other parts. I have info from 3 guys now and one of them saying he has waited 2 years now for heads/parts and said he will have to probably go there to get his parts, thats fricking retarded. John mansell has constantly been making excusess to me after he got my money about how sick he is and his personal problems. I felt like he is trying to make his personal problems mine now, if he was or even got so sick, why didint he send my money back if he could not function and could not do this deal. I was trying to believe him and help him out and now fell like a hostage over his personal bs problems, I got enough problems of my own. I felt shortly after this guy got my money that he was not right mentaly, unfortunatly I really realized this only after he got my money and started to send me bs replys to my emails. Now I will have to get my pastport in order and get a seat sale ticket for a 4-5hr flight to buffalo int airport, rent a car there, drive 1hr south on 219 to his place all just for this stupid BS, I should not have to wait 1-2 years for a fricken set of bike heads from this sob. BUELLers: Sorry to hear about this SCAM ARTIST ... "BUT" IMHO a 4 valve head is of no use to a 45 degree(because of design )engine because the bottom end will not allow the engine to turn the RPMs that the smaller(4)valves will allow ... | ||

Buellistic, with all due repect to you, imho thats total BS. This is why I went this way to find out for myself and not hearsay. Fact is you dont need to spin 10,000 rpm to make power with a 4 valve, 7000rpm is plenty to work with. Anyway this is the wrong thread to go into this with you but (we can start another if you like). I will say the 4 valve XL head kit I got from RPMHEMI is fantastic, $2250 for a 4 valve xl head kit as complete as these are can compete with ANY 2valve upgrade out there. Anyway the the good and the bad about this maess I got into with JM is at least I got a kit, I am just so fricking pissed off with everything, I dont have the urge right now to do anything with it till I get the problem solved with this guy. here is a pic of the complete $2250 kit with upgrades I got from RPM in just under 2 weeks, as you can see there LOTS of stuff, start a new thread if you want and I will post more info. I'm just trying to wrap my head around cruising at 7000 rpm from an XL... Kaz - so did you pay by credit card? If so check your agreement - you may already have the insurance and all this becomes moot! If not, then now you know how a bank feels about people they loaned money to who default on their loans. Thanks for the # Rde, I may need it. He asked me to pay by paypal so I make 2 payments july 3 and july 22. I then sent him 2 postal money orders with my pistons (by courier)on december 16, 08, I wanted to send him a usd bank draft but he said postal mo would be better for him so I did. | ||

Kazoom, that sux! but speaking from a law enforcement experience, if you do find him in person take your paperwork, emails and anything you can think of that pertains to this transaction and go to the county prosecutors office to sign a complaint. That will either get the ball rolling or they will tell you its to late... | ||

You're in a tough spot Kaz. Look online for the laws in which you shipped them and see what you need to do. You will likely have to take them to court. Just like what banks do... People who don't pay up just make it worse on everybody else (reminds me of all those White House Appointments who DIDN'T PAY THEIR TAXES!). Let us know how it turns out. | ||

Kazoom, not to detract too much from your situation here or burst your bubble, but it's been widely rumored that these 4V heads are no better than a well ported set of 2V heads. No doubt they will work much better than stock heads. There's plenty of ways to skin a cat. I just take the simplest and least expensive  Lay off Buellistic...he has the knowing of a lot of things and has been very helpful to many members here...though it's not necessarily the RPM that's the limiting factor. Despite the theory that says otherwise, in actual practice 2V heads work quite well on long stroke engines and tend to make more power under the curve. I'm curious to see how these will work as amazing claims are rampant from manufacturers and owners alike but actual proof is almost non-existent. | ||
