hi all,got a vibration on my 99 M2,
it only occurs two up,when the suspension unloads the rear wheel from a dip in the road through the right side foot peg ???
i managed to almost dial it out with adjusting the rear shock and drive belt, then i had to take out the rear wheel for some routine work, putting the wheel back in left the belt a bit slacker than before i removed it(yet the adjustment bolts where not altered or anything swapped from one side to the other??????)
two up it was back, there seems to be an area just rear of the front pulley and forward of the frame,a bit of aluminium that is below the top run of the belt, this has been polished by contact with the belt,is a momentary contact of belt and aluminium causing this vibration?i have re-adjusted the belt and took a file to the aluminium to just take the edge off and line it up with the angle of the belt and have yet to take the bike out to up to see if there is any improvement, before i did just wondered if anyone else had this problem or had any thoughts on whats going on,
steve,

I think I would be looking at the isolators.

Right foot peg because the right rear iso could be bad or working not as good as it could be. When the suspension unloads any load the belt may be applying to the right side of the motor is relaxed and would maybe reduce any dampening effect that could have on the right rear iso.

Then again I could be way out in left field.

for got to add the vibration is rapid and brief when it occurs and mid-revs,when i go up a gear it stops till mid rev,s and again only when the suspension unloads over small dips, not large pot holes, smooth road where the tarmac joint at each section is for example ?

for as cheap as a new updated set it, i would just buy rears. then look at the new ones compared to whats on your bike. if they look like they are stretched downward or have tears they are bad. plus you will be replacing them in the future anyways.

My rear isoltators weren't torn externally, but inside I'm sure they are. I had horrible vibrations through my pegs at all rpm's and all times.

I wouldn't knock the rear iso's out of the equation....

Hopefully it IS the isolators. If not, it could be the bearing for the drive pulley in the tranny...

Grab the rear end under the seat and lift the tail up while watching the right isolator bolt's location relative to the frame.
Any movement = bad.
