Author Message   14d Posted on Friday, June 19, 2009 - 05:41 pm:        I've got the old style CF rear hugger with the square belt guard that sticks out, as shown in pic below. Been thinking about trimming it off for a while, anybody got pictures of this, or done this to a CF or stock? Just trying to figure out the best looking way to cut it off at this point, so a close up would be great. Also, am I better off using a fine tooth saw, or a cut off disc and dremel?   Capital_g Posted on Friday, June 19, 2009 - 06:14 pm:        I would trim it until it's all gone. Mostly though I just don't want to use my cf undertail as a the fender and get it all chewed up.   Pkforbes87 Posted on Friday, June 19, 2009 - 06:38 pm:        I've got a CF undertail and no hugger fender. It doesn't get chewed up.. it just gets dirty. If you're into keeping things clean, then leave the hugger on there. If you want it to look even more raw and stripped down, then rip that sucker off.   Redefine420 Posted on Friday, June 19, 2009 - 06:46 pm:        I trimmed mine a couple years ago. I used a Husky cut off tool. Nice job on it too.   Skntpig Posted on Sunday, June 21, 2009 - 02:23 pm:        Whatever you use to cut it just make sure it is very fine grit, or teeth. Go slow. I used Green masking tape on both sides for two reasons. You can make an line with a sharpie to cut on. Green sticks very well but don't leave it on too long. Most importantly, you don't fray the fibers and it leaves a nice clean cut. Just like on a piece of wood one side is a cleaner cut than the other. I'll post the results after I do it, but that won't be for a while as I'm still recovering from an ankle injury and surgery. I'll be working on it before I'm able to ride it though, planning on doing rocker box gaskets, oil pump drive gear if it hasn't been done, wrapping the pipes, catch can, and a few other misc things. Should keep me busy for a bit when I'm out of bed, but still can't ride.
